Meanwhile, industrial companies are always being exhorted to become more competitive by reducing the lead time and costs for their products to survival. KBE technology is a relatively young technology with competitive advantage for design application to reduce the lead-time drastically. This paper addressed the structure of the automobile panel die design system based on the KBE technology in details. The system operates by creating a unified knowledge base to store the scattered knowledge among the design process from the experts and engineering knowledge resources through coding, which contained in the expert's brain and technical literature. It helps designers to make appropriate decisions by supplying necessary information at the right time through query and inference engine to represent the knowledge within the KBE application framework. We mainly use the RBR and CBR retrieving mechanism to reach the best solutions.
