However, users must overcome lots of programming difficulty to completely exploit hybrid CPU\/GPU clusters. As a result, they hesitate to move toward to this new computing architecture. To address this problem, we propose a distributed PTX compilation and execution system on hybrid CPU\/GPU cluster called BigGPU in this paper. This system is aimed at emulating a single huge GPU image on a cluster of CPUs and GPUs connected by networks for executing their CUDA programs. With the support of this system, they can write CUDA programs for a single GPU while simultaneously use multiple distributed CPUs and GPUs for sharing the work of the same program without MPI and multithreading programming. Moreover, they need not care about the problems of insufficient device memory capability, and thread configuration constraints existing in a physical GPU because BigGPU emulates a large scale of device memory and stream processors by integrating multicore CPUs and many-core GPUs.<\/jats:p>","DOI":"10.3233\/978-1-61499-484-8-1355","type":"book-chapter","created":{"date-parts":[[2025,2,21]],"date-time":"2025-02-21T10:27:24Z","timestamp":1740133644000},"source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":0,"title":["A Distributed PTX Compilation and Execution System on Hybrid CPU\/GPU Clusters"],"prefix":"10.3233","author":[{"family":"Liang Tyng-Yeu","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]},{"family":"Li Hung-Fu","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]},{"family":"Chen Bi-Shing","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]}],"member":"7437","container-title":["Frontiers in Artificial Intelligence and Applications","Intelligent Systems and Applications"],"original-title":[],"deposited":{"date-parts":[[2025,2,21]],"date-time":"2025-02-21T11:33:46Z","timestamp":1740137626000},"score":1,"resource":{"primary":{"URL":"https:\/\/www.medra.org\/servlet\/aliasResolver?alias=iospressISSNISBN&issn=0922-6389&volume=274&spage=1355"}},"subtitle":[],"short-title":[],"issued":{"date-parts":[[2015]]},"references-count":0,"URL":"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.3233\/978-1-61499-484-8-1355","relation":{},"ISSN":["0922-6389"],"issn-type":[{"value":"0922-6389","type":"print"}],"subject":[],"published":{"date-parts":[[2015]]}}}
