Health information technologies are tools that allow for the management of health information in computerized systems. Health information technology, including electronic health records, computers\/emails, social media, and cellphones\/text messaging are becoming widespread and readily accessible to populations around the globe. In this review, the use of these technologies and interventions are discussed and evaluated for their potential to improve public health.
