For the lifelong record of data about individuals, issues arise about the permanence and preservation of data during or even beyond a lifetime. Current EHR do not fully adhere to pertinent standards for clinical data, where it is known for some 20 plus years that standardization of health data is a cornerstone for patient safety, interoperability, data retrieval for various purposes and the lifelong preservation of such data.
