We use the conditional mutual information as filter measure and show how the required statistics can be computed in parallel avoiding unnecessary calculations. The distribution of the calculations between the available computing units is determined based on balanced incomplete block designs, a strategy first developed within the area of statistical design of experiments. We show the scalability of our method through a series of experiments on synthetic and real-world datasets.<\/jats:p>","DOI":"10.3233\/978-1-61499-672-9-743","type":"book-chapter","created":{"date-parts":[[2025,2,24]],"date-time":"2025-02-24T11:59:50Z","timestamp":1740398390000},"source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":0,"title":["Parallel Filter-Based Feature Selection Based on Balanced Incomplete Block Designs"],"prefix":"10.3233","author":[{"family":"Salmerón Antonio","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]},{"family":"Madsen Anders L.","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]},{"family":"Jensen Frank","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]},{"family":"Langseth Helge","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]},{"family":"Nielsen Thomas D.","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]},{"family":"Ramos-López Darío","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]},{"family":"Martínez Ana M.","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]},{"family":"Masegosa Andrés R.","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]}],"member":"7437","container-title":["Frontiers in Artificial Intelligence and Applications","ECAI 2016"],"original-title":[],"deposited":{"date-parts":[[2025,2,24]],"date-time":"2025-02-24T12:02:08Z","timestamp":1740398528000},"score":1,"resource":{"primary":{"URL":"https:\/\/www.medra.org\/servlet\/aliasResolver?alias=iospressISBN&isbn=978-1-61499-671-2&spage=743&doi=10.3233\/978-1-61499-672-9-743"}},"subtitle":[],"short-title":[],"issued":{"date-parts":[[2016]]},"references-count":0,"URL":"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.3233\/978-1-61499-672-9-743","relation":{},"ISSN":["0922-6389"],"issn-type":[{"value":"0922-6389","type":"print"}],"subject":[],"published":{"date-parts":[[2016]]}}}
