The Poor man's Data Augmentation (PMDA) estimator is proposed to efficiently estimate the channel impulse response (CIR) making use of multipath fading channels with additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN). A modest number of pilot tones is used to efficiently improve the channel estimation by the use of the PMDA estimator to obtain the initial estimation for the iterative procedure.
