With the booming of maritime transportation, VTS becomes more and more important in promoting traffic fluency, efficiency, and safety in designated geographical areas. However, the performance of VTS is frequently threatened by external and internal incidents, which leaves the maritime traffic in a dangerous situation. Therefore, VTS must be resilient to cope with these disturbances and maintain an acceptable service level. Focusing on this problem, this paper first analyses the architecture of VTS from the perspective of sociotechnical systems. Thereafter, the definition of resilient VTS is introduced. Through interaction network analysis, the key contributing factors for resilient VTS are identified. Finally, based on the results, several guidelines for realizing resilient VTS are proposed.<\/jats:p>","DOI":"10.3233\/978-1-61499-779-5-829","type":"book-chapter","created":{"date-parts":[[2025,2,19]],"date-time":"2025-02-19T17:19:26Z","timestamp":1739985566000},"source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":0,"title":["Toward Resilient Vessel Traffic Service: A Sociotechnical Perspective"],"prefix":"10.3233","author":[{"family":"Xu Gangyan","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[]},{"family":"Li Fan","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[]},{"family":"Chen Chun-Hsien","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[]},{"family":"Lee Ching-Hung","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[]},{"family":"Lee Yu-Chi","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[]}],"member":"7437","container-title":["Advances in Transdisciplinary Engineering","Transdisciplinary Engineering: A Paradigm Shift"],"original-title":[],"deposited":{"date-parts":[[2025,2,19]],"date-time":"2025-02-19T17:44:04Z","timestamp":1739987044000},"score":1,"resource":{"primary":{"URL":"https:\/\/www.medra.org\/servlet\/aliasResolver?alias=iospressISBN&isbn=978-1-61499-778-8&spage=829&doi=10.3233\/978-1-61499-779-5-829"}},"subtitle":[],"short-title":[],"issued":{"date-parts":[[2017]]},"references-count":0,"URL":"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.3233\/978-1-61499-779-5-829","relation":{},"ISSN":["2352-751X"],"issn-type":[{"value":"2352-751X","type":"print"}],"subject":[],"published":{"date-parts":[[2017]]}}}
