This cell is composed by a biodiesel production microplant, which is coupled to a 4kVA Diesel generator. Residual frying oil is used as raw material to produce the biodiesel. It was verified that the system is a solution for decentralized energy generation, suitable for cooperatives and small rural communities. Also, it can be an income source for economically\/socially vulnerable communities, through the establishment of cooperatives to collect the residual frying oil and produce biodiesel and derivatives as glycerin. Regarding environmental aspects, this power generation cell provides a way to correctly dispose a pollutant urban waste. This work concerns the development of a prototype and a test bench, which constitutes a multidisciplinary project, serving as a laboratory for research, learning and integrating different industrial technologies.<\/jats:p>","DOI":"10.3233\/978-1-61499-898-3-1165","type":"book-chapter","created":{"date-parts":[[2025,2,19]],"date-time":"2025-02-19T17:19:26Z","timestamp":1739985566000},"source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":0,"title":["An Independent Power Cell for Energy Generation from Residual Frying Oil"],"prefix":"10.3233","author":[{"family":"Porte Anderson F.","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]},{"family":"Rocha Carlos R.","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]},{"family":"Galarça Marcelo M.","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]}],"member":"7437","container-title":["Advances in Transdisciplinary Engineering","Transdisciplinary Engineering Methods for Social Innovation of Industry 4.0"],"original-title":[],"deposited":{"date-parts":[[2025,2,19]],"date-time":"2025-02-19T17:43:22Z","timestamp":1739987002000},"score":1,"resource":{"primary":{"URL":"https:\/\/www.medra.org\/servlet\/aliasResolver?alias=iospressISBN&isbn=978-1-61499-897-6&spage=1165&doi=10.3233\/978-1-61499-898-3-1165"}},"subtitle":[],"short-title":[],"issued":{"date-parts":[[2018]]},"references-count":0,"URL":"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.3233\/978-1-61499-898-3-1165","relation":{},"ISSN":["2352-751X"],"issn-type":[{"value":"2352-751X","type":"print"}],"subject":[],"published":{"date-parts":[[2018]]}}}
