Yet in real-world argumentation, it is common for agents to not involve such zero-sum situations. Rather, the agents may enter into a dialogue with divergent but not necessarily opposing views on what is important in the outcomes from the argumentation. In order to model this kind of situation, we investigate a decision-theoretic approach that allows different participants to have different utility evaluations of a dialogue, and for the proponent to model the opponent's utility evaluation in order to optimize the choice of move in the dialogue.<\/jats:p>","DOI":"10.3233\/978-1-61499-906-5-233","type":"book-chapter","created":{"date-parts":[[2025,2,21]],"date-time":"2025-02-21T10:21:00Z","timestamp":1740133260000},"source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":0,"title":["Biparty Decision Theory for Dialogical Argumentation"],"prefix":"10.3233","author":[{"family":"Hadoux Emmanuel","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]},{"family":"Hunter Anthony","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]},{"family":"Polberg Sylwia","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]}],"member":"7437","container-title":["Frontiers in Artificial Intelligence and Applications","Computational Models of Argument"],"original-title":[],"deposited":{"date-parts":[[2025,2,21]],"date-time":"2025-02-21T11:32:46Z","timestamp":1740137566000},"score":1,"resource":{"primary":{"URL":"https:\/\/www.medra.org\/servlet\/aliasResolver?alias=iospressISBN&isbn=978-1-61499-905-8&spage=233&doi=10.3233\/978-1-61499-906-5-233"}},"subtitle":[],"short-title":[],"issued":{"date-parts":[[2018]]},"references-count":0,"URL":"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.3233\/978-1-61499-906-5-233","relation":{},"ISSN":["0922-6389"],"issn-type":[{"value":"0922-6389","type":"print"}],"subject":[],"published":{"date-parts":[[2018]]}}}
