The main idea of D-BAS is to let users exchange proposals and arguments with each other in the form of a time-shifted dialog where arguments are presented and acted upon one-at-a-time. We highlight the key research challenges that needed to be addressed in order to realize such a system, provide solutions for those challenges, report on a full scale implementation of D-BAS and summarize the findings from a real world e-participation process, where D-BAS provided the infrastructure for online argumentation.<\/jats:p>","DOI":"10.3233\/978-1-61499-906-5-325","type":"book-chapter","created":{"date-parts":[[2025,2,21]],"date-time":"2025-02-21T10:27:05Z","timestamp":1740133625000},"source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":1,"title":["D-BAS – A Dialog-Based Online Argumentation System"],"prefix":"10.3233","author":[{"family":"Krauthoff Tobias","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]},{"family":"Meter Christian","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]},{"family":"Baurmann Michael","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]},{"family":"Betz Gregor","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]},{"family":"Mauve Martin","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]}],"member":"7437","container-title":["Frontiers in Artificial Intelligence and Applications","Computational Models of Argument"],"original-title":[],"deposited":{"date-parts":[[2025,2,21]],"date-time":"2025-02-21T11:34:25Z","timestamp":1740137665000},"score":1,"resource":{"primary":{"URL":"https:\/\/www.medra.org\/servlet\/aliasResolver?alias=iospressISBN&isbn=978-1-61499-905-8&spage=325&doi=10.3233\/978-1-61499-906-5-325"}},"subtitle":[],"short-title":[],"issued":{"date-parts":[[2018]]},"references-count":0,"URL":"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.3233\/978-1-61499-906-5-325","relation":{},"ISSN":["0922-6389"],"issn-type":[{"value":"0922-6389","type":"print"}],"subject":[],"published":{"date-parts":[[2018]]}}}
