The advantage of this is that information that typically cannot be incorporated via the instantiation of object-level argumentation frameworks can now be incorporated, in particular information referencing (1) preferences over arguments, (2) the rationale for attacks, and (3) the dialectical effect of critical questions that shifts the burden of proof when posed. We achieve this by using a variant of ASPIC+ and a higher-order typed language that can reference object-level formulae and arguments. We illustrate these representational advantages with a running example from clinical decision support.<\/jats:p>","DOI":"10.3233\/978-1-61499-906-5-97","type":"book-chapter","created":{"date-parts":[[2025,2,21]],"date-time":"2025-02-21T10:21:00Z","timestamp":1740133260000},"source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":0,"title":["Instantiating Metalevel Argumentation Frameworks"],"prefix":"10.3233","author":[{"family":"Young Anthony P.","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]},{"family":"Kokciyan Nadin","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]},{"family":"Sassoon Isabel","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]},{"family":"Modgil Sanjay","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]},{"family":"Parsons Simon","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]}],"member":"7437","container-title":["Frontiers in Artificial Intelligence and Applications","Computational Models of Argument"],"original-title":[],"deposited":{"date-parts":[[2025,2,21]],"date-time":"2025-02-21T11:03:29Z","timestamp":1740135809000},"score":1,"resource":{"primary":{"URL":"https:\/\/www.medra.org\/servlet\/aliasResolver?alias=iospressISBN&isbn=978-1-61499-905-8&spage=97&doi=10.3233\/978-1-61499-906-5-97"}},"subtitle":[],"short-title":[],"issued":{"date-parts":[[2018]]},"references-count":0,"URL":"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.3233\/978-1-61499-906-5-97","relation":{},"ISSN":["0922-6389"],"issn-type":[{"value":"0922-6389","type":"print"}],"subject":[],"published":{"date-parts":[[2018]]}}}
