The importance of these systems and how they have evolved over the past 30 years has been well researched. The value and benefits of these systems are therefore well known; however, it is estimated that most projects are typically 100% over budget and a year behind schedule [1, p. 2]. In this paper the authors examine what literature is available on agile project management methodologies in health care settings. A scoping review of the literature available specifically on agile methods use in implementing systems within health care was undertaken. Findings revealed there is very little literature available on agile project management methodologies used in health care IT systems implementations. The authors identify there is a strong need for research to look into project management methodologies and identify areas in the project lifecycle, where change is needed to increase clinical systems adoption.<\/jats:p>","DOI":"10.3233\/978-1-61499-951-5-140","type":"book-chapter","created":{"date-parts":[[2025,2,21]],"date-time":"2025-02-21T17:07:49Z","timestamp":1740157669000},"source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":3,"title":["Use of Agile Project Methodology in Health Care IT Implementations: A Scoping Review"],"prefix":"10.3233","author":[{"family":"Goodison Rav","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[],"role":[{"vocabulary":"crossref","role":"author"}]},{"family":"Borycki Elizabeth M.","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[],"role":[{"vocabulary":"crossref","role":"author"}]},{"family":"Kushniruk Andre W.","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[],"role":[{"vocabulary":"crossref","role":"author"}]}],"member":"7437","container-title":["Studies in Health Technology and Informatics","Improving Usability, Safety and Patient Outcomes with Health Information Technology"],"original-title":[],"deposited":{"date-parts":[[2025,2,21]],"date-time":"2025-02-21T17:30:15Z","timestamp":1740159015000},"score":1,"resource":{"primary":{"URL":"https:\/\/www.medra.org\/servlet\/aliasResolver?alias=iospressISBN&isbn=978-1-61499-950-8&spage=140&doi=10.3233\/978-1-61499-951-5-140"}},"subtitle":[],"short-title":[],"issued":{"date-parts":[[2019]]},"references-count":0,"URL":"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.3233\/978-1-61499-951-5-140","relation":{},"ISSN":["0926-9630"],"issn-type":[{"value":"0926-9630","type":"print"}],"subject":[],"published":{"date-parts":[[2019]]}}}
