In this work, we introduce the Action Situation Language (ASL), inspired by Elinor Ostrom\u2019s Institutional Analysis and Development framework, to bridge the gap between games and rules. The ASL provides a syntax for the description of agent interactions, and is complemented by an engine that automatically provides semantics for them as extensive-form games. The resulting games can then be analysed using standard game-theoretical solution concepts, hence allowing any community of agents to automatically perform what-if analysis of potential new interaction rules.<\/jats:p>","DOI":"10.3233\/faia210120","type":"book-chapter","created":{"date-parts":[[2021,10,14]],"date-time":"2021-10-14T12:16:33Z","timestamp":1634213793000},"source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":1,"title":["Enabling Game-Theoretical Analysis of Social Rules"],"prefix":"10.3233","author":[{"given":"Nieves","family":"Montes","sequence":"first","affiliation":[{"name":"Artificial Intelligence Research Institute (IIIA-CSIC), Campus de la UAB, 08193 Bellaterra (Barcelona)"}],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]},{"given":"Nardine","family":"Osman","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Artificial Intelligence Research Institute (IIIA-CSIC), Campus de la UAB, 08193 Bellaterra (Barcelona)"}],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]},{"given":"Carles","family":"Sierra","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Artificial Intelligence Research Institute (IIIA-CSIC), Campus de la UAB, 08193 Bellaterra (Barcelona)"}],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]}],"member":"7437","container-title":["Frontiers in Artificial Intelligence and Applications","Artificial Intelligence Research and Development"],"original-title":[],"link":[{"URL":"https:\/\/ebooks.iospress.nl\/pdf\/doi\/10.3233\/FAIA210120","content-type":"unspecified","content-version":"vor","intended-application":"similarity-checking"}],"deposited":{"date-parts":[[2021,10,25]],"date-time":"2021-10-25T13:36:14Z","timestamp":1635168974000},"score":1,"resource":{"primary":{"URL":"https:\/\/ebooks.iospress.nl\/doi\/10.3233\/FAIA210120"}},"subtitle":[],"short-title":[],"issued":{"date-parts":[[2021,10,14]]},"references-count":0,"URL":"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.3233\/faia210120","relation":{},"ISSN":["0922-6389","1879-8314"],"issn-type":[{"value":"0922-6389","type":"print"},{"value":"1879-8314","type":"electronic"}],"subject":[],"published":{"date-parts":[[2021,10,14]]}}}
