Through the user participatory design method, we summarized the key design points of the eHMI and produced a design prototype, and optimized the prototype according to the participatory design experimental results and actual needs to obtain a design solution. The design was tested and evaluated at the practical level, and a strategy for user participation in the design of the external human-machine interface was concluded. The results show that the participatory design approach can improve the usability and acceptance of eHMIs, reduce the cognitive differences in the presentation of interface content, and provide a reference for the design of out-of-vehicle HCI in future work.<\/jats:p>","DOI":"10.3233\/faia220702","type":"book-chapter","created":{"date-parts":[[2023,1,15]],"date-time":"2023-01-15T09:53:44Z","timestamp":1673776424000},"source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":0,"title":["Participatory Design of External HMI Based on Explicit Human-Vehicle Interaction Features"],"prefix":"10.3233","author":[{"given":"Ziang","family":"Chen","sequence":"first","affiliation":[{"name":"Design Intelligence Innovation Center, China Academy of Art, Hangzhou Zhejiang 310002, China"},{"name":"School of Design Jiangnan University, Wuxi Jiangsu 214122, China"}],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]},{"given":"Juanfang","family":"Xu","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"School of Design Jiangnan University, Wuxi Jiangsu 214122, China"}],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]},{"given":"Zheng","family":"Liu","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Design Intelligence Innovation Center, China Academy of Art, Hangzhou Zhejiang 310002, China"}],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]},{"given":"Zhongliang","family":"Wei","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"China North Vehicle Research Institute, Beijing 100072, China"}],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]},{"given":"Miaosen","family":"Gong","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"School of Design Jiangnan University, Wuxi Jiangsu 214122, China"}],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]}],"member":"7437","container-title":["Frontiers in Artificial Intelligence and Applications","Design Studies and Intelligence Engineering"],"original-title":[],"link":[{"URL":"https:\/\/ebooks.iospress.nl\/pdf\/doi\/10.3233\/FAIA220702","content-type":"unspecified","content-version":"vor","intended-application":"similarity-checking"}],"deposited":{"date-parts":[[2023,1,15]],"date-time":"2023-01-15T09:53:46Z","timestamp":1673776426000},"score":1,"resource":{"primary":{"URL":"https:\/\/ebooks.iospress.nl\/doi\/10.3233\/FAIA220702"}},"subtitle":[],"short-title":[],"issued":{"date-parts":[[2023,1,12]]},"ISBN":["9781643683720","9781643683737"],"references-count":0,"URL":"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.3233\/faia220702","relation":{},"ISSN":["0922-6389","1879-8314"],"issn-type":[{"value":"0922-6389","type":"print"},{"value":"1879-8314","type":"electronic"}],"subject":[],"published":{"date-parts":[[2023,1,12]]}}}
