We organized the present study using the grounded theory approach to obtain insight into the motivations behind luxury consumption through interviews with 12 individuals. We used these data to propose a model of motivations behind luxury consumption, which constitutes three categories, i.e., relatedness (conformity of evolutionary psychology and the influence on formal social activities), competence (social status and confidence), and autonomy (others\u2019 attitudes and opinions and uniqueness). Our findings could contribute to better understanding of the motivations behind luxury consumption and proposed the possible theoretical and managerial implications in the future.<\/jats:p>","DOI":"10.3233\/faia230020","type":"book-chapter","created":{"date-parts":[[2023,2,10]],"date-time":"2023-02-10T06:51:54Z","timestamp":1676011914000},"source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":1,"title":["The Motivations Behind Luxury Consumption: Application of Grounded Theory Approach"],"prefix":"10.3233","author":[{"given":"Na","family":"Zhang","sequence":"first","affiliation":[{"name":"School of Economics and Management, Beijing Information Science and Technology University, China"}],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]},{"given":"Chunhua","family":"Jin","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"School of Economics and Management, Beijing Information Science and Technology University, China"}],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]},{"given":"Xing","family":"Bu","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"School of Economics and Management, University of Science and Technology Beijing, China"}],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]},{"given":"Faheem Gul","family":"Gilal","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Department of Business Administration, Sukkur IBA University, Pakistan"}],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]}],"member":"7437","container-title":["Frontiers in Artificial Intelligence and Applications","Digitalization and Management Innovation"],"original-title":[],"link":[{"URL":"https:\/\/ebooks.iospress.nl\/pdf\/doi\/10.3233\/FAIA230020","content-type":"unspecified","content-version":"vor","intended-application":"similarity-checking"}],"deposited":{"date-parts":[[2023,2,10]],"date-time":"2023-02-10T06:51:56Z","timestamp":1676011916000},"score":1,"resource":{"primary":{"URL":"https:\/\/ebooks.iospress.nl\/doi\/10.3233\/FAIA230020"}},"subtitle":[],"short-title":[],"issued":{"date-parts":[[2023,2,6]]},"ISBN":["9781643683782","9781643683799"],"references-count":0,"URL":"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.3233\/faia230020","relation":{},"ISSN":["0922-6389","1879-8314"],"issn-type":[{"value":"0922-6389","type":"print"},{"value":"1879-8314","type":"electronic"}],"subject":[],"published":{"date-parts":[[2023,2,6]]}}}
