Through a thorough review of existing literature, the study develops a comprehensive platform that combines the practical, real-world problem-solving nature of CBL with the customizable, digital features of PLEs. The platform is meticulously designed to support CBL within the framework of PLE, offering a wide array of resources, collaborative workspaces for peer interaction, real-time analytics for ongoing assessment, and a continuous cycle of reflection and feedback. The paper highlights the potential of this integration to significantly improve analytical and critical thinking skills among learners. While grounded in theoretical research, the study identifies a new area for future empirical research and practical application, advocating for further exploration to fully harness the potential of this innovative educational approach.<\/jats:p>","DOI":"10.3233\/faia241208","type":"book-chapter","created":{"date-parts":[[2024,11,29]],"date-time":"2024-11-29T15:32:13Z","timestamp":1732894333000},"source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":0,"title":["Promoting Higher Order Thinking Skills in Undergraduates: Conceptualizing Challenge-Based Learning Through Personal Learning Environments Platform"],"prefix":"10.3233","author":[{"given":"Huanhuan","family":"Zhang","sequence":"first","affiliation":[{"name":"Faculty of Applied Sciences, Macao Polytechnic University, China"}],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]},{"given":"Xiaoshu","family":"Xu","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"School of Foreign Studies, Wenzhou University, China"}],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]},{"given":"Yunfeng","family":"Zhang","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Faculty of Languages and Translation, Macao Polytechnic University, China"}],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]},{"given":"Ye","family":"Sun","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Centre for Portuguese Studies, Macao Polytechnic University, China"}],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]}],"member":"7437","container-title":["Frontiers in Artificial Intelligence and Applications","Machine Learning and Intelligent Systems"],"original-title":[],"link":[{"URL":"https:\/\/ebooks.iospress.nl\/pdf\/doi\/10.3233\/FAIA241208","content-type":"unspecified","content-version":"vor","intended-application":"similarity-checking"}],"deposited":{"date-parts":[[2024,11,29]],"date-time":"2024-11-29T15:32:14Z","timestamp":1732894334000},"score":1,"resource":{"primary":{"URL":"https:\/\/ebooks.iospress.nl\/doi\/10.3233\/FAIA241208"}},"subtitle":[],"short-title":[],"issued":{"date-parts":[[2024,11,28]]},"ISBN":["9781643685533"],"references-count":0,"URL":"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.3233\/faia241208","relation":{},"ISSN":["0922-6389","1879-8314"],"issn-type":[{"value":"0922-6389","type":"print"},{"value":"1879-8314","type":"electronic"}],"subject":[],"published":{"date-parts":[[2024,11,28]]}}}
