In 2017,CUBRC, Inc. made CCO openly available. CCO has since been increasingly adopted by a broad group of users and applications and is proposed as the first standard mid-level ontology. Despite these successes, documentation of the contents and design patterns of the CCO has been comparatively minimal. This paper is a step toward providing enhanced documentation for the mid-level ontology suite through a discussion of the contents of the eleven ontologies that collectively comprise the Common Core Ontology suite.<\/jats:p>","DOI":"10.3233\/faia241292","type":"book-chapter","created":{"date-parts":[[2024,12,13]],"date-time":"2024-12-13T10:21:19Z","timestamp":1734085279000},"source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":13,"title":["The Common Core Ontologies"],"prefix":"10.3233","author":[{"given":"Mark","family":"Jensen","sequence":"first","affiliation":[{"name":"U.S. Customs and Border Protection"},{"name":"National Center for Ontological Research"}],"role":[{"vocabulary":"crossref","role":"author"}]},{"given":"Giacomo","family":"De Colle","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"National Center for Ontological Research"},{"name":"University at Buffalo"}],"role":[{"vocabulary":"crossref","role":"author"}]},{"given":"Sean","family":"Kindya","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"University at Buffalo"}],"role":[{"vocabulary":"crossref","role":"author"}]},{"given":"Cameron","family":"More","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"National Center for Ontological Research"},{"name":"CUBRC, Inc."}],"role":[{"vocabulary":"crossref","role":"author"}]},{"given":"Alexander P.","family":"Cox","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"National Center for Ontological Research"},{"name":"CUBRC, Inc."}],"role":[{"vocabulary":"crossref","role":"author"}]},{"given":"John","family":"Beverley","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"National Center for Ontological Research"},{"name":"University at Buffalo"},{"name":"Institute for Artificial Intelligence and Data Science"}],"role":[{"vocabulary":"crossref","role":"author"}]}],"member":"7437","container-title":["Frontiers in Artificial Intelligence and Applications","Formal Ontology in Information Systems"],"original-title":[],"link":[{"URL":"https:\/\/ebooks.iospress.nl\/pdf\/doi\/10.3233\/FAIA241292","content-type":"unspecified","content-version":"vor","intended-application":"similarity-checking"}],"deposited":{"date-parts":[[2024,12,13]],"date-time":"2024-12-13T10:21:19Z","timestamp":1734085279000},"score":1,"resource":{"primary":{"URL":"https:\/\/ebooks.iospress.nl\/doi\/10.3233\/FAIA241292"}},"subtitle":[],"short-title":[],"issued":{"date-parts":[[2024,12,11]]},"ISBN":["9781643685618"],"references-count":0,"URL":"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.3233\/faia241292","relation":{},"ISSN":["0922-6389","1879-8314"],"issn-type":[{"value":"0922-6389","type":"print"},{"value":"1879-8314","type":"electronic"}],"subject":[],"published":{"date-parts":[[2024,12,11]]}}}
