We present a neurosymbolic workflow that converts these anomalies into sources of conceptual innovation. Claims generated by an LLM are checked against a domain ontology; conflicts trigger axiom weakening and targeted expert review. Approved revisions enrich the ontology, closing a human-in-the-loop feedback cycle that aligns generative creativity with symbolic rigour. A biomimetic-robotics vignette shows how the method resolves contradictions while surfacing new categories. Limitations and future directions are briefly discussed.<\/jats:p>","DOI":"10.3233\/faia250685","type":"book-chapter","created":{"date-parts":[[2025,9,23]],"date-time":"2025-09-23T14:38:46Z","timestamp":1758638326000},"source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":0,"title":["The Second Life of Hallucinations: A Neurosymbolic Framework for Transforming Errors into Insights Through Human\u2013AI Collaboration"],"prefix":"10.3233","author":[{"given":"Marco","family":"Monti","sequence":"first","affiliation":[{"name":"Free University of Bozen-Bolzano, Italy"},{"name":"IBM, Segrate, Italy"}],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]},{"given":"Ruslan I.M.","family":"Vsevolodovna","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"IBM Client Innovation Center, Italy"}],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]}],"member":"7437","container-title":["Frontiers in Artificial Intelligence and Applications","HHAI 2025"],"original-title":[],"link":[{"URL":"https:\/\/ebooks.iospress.nl\/pdf\/doi\/10.3233\/FAIA250685","content-type":"unspecified","content-version":"vor","intended-application":"similarity-checking"}],"deposited":{"date-parts":[[2025,9,23]],"date-time":"2025-09-23T14:38:47Z","timestamp":1758638327000},"score":1,"resource":{"primary":{"URL":"https:\/\/ebooks.iospress.nl\/doi\/10.3233\/FAIA250685"}},"subtitle":[],"short-title":[],"issued":{"date-parts":[[2025,9,22]]},"ISBN":["9781643686110"],"references-count":0,"URL":"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.3233\/faia250685","relation":{},"ISSN":["0922-6389","1879-8314"],"issn-type":[{"value":"0922-6389","type":"print"},{"value":"1879-8314","type":"electronic"}],"subject":[],"published":{"date-parts":[[2025,9,22]]}}}
