The paper demonstrates that the use of edge-triggering makes possible\n\t\t\t many useful trade-offs among speed, area and powerdelay product. Significant\n\t\t\t increases in speed are possible as a result of increased concurrency in the\n\t\t\t circuit's operation, which compensates for much of the penalty\n\t\t\t associated with the down phase of the four-phase protocol. It is also shown\n\t\t\t that concurrency can be increased by the judicious insertion of T-elements in\n\t\t\t the system's control structure. Simulation results for a 16-bit\n\t\t\t accumulator showed a speed increase of 50% and a reduction of 23% in the\n\t\t\t power-delay product. The speed of a radix-4 Booth multiplier increased by over\n\t\t\t 27% and its area and energy consumption were reduced by 5%. These results were\n\t\t\t derived using test circuits synthesized by Balsa and implemented in Synopsys\n\t\t\t using 180-nm technology.<\/jats:p>","DOI":"10.3233\/fi-2009-141","type":"journal-article","created":{"date-parts":[[2019,12,2]],"date-time":"2019-12-02T22:52:51Z","timestamp":1575327171000},"page":"31-52","source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":0,"title":["Application of Concurrency in the Asynchronous Design of\t\t\t Write-after-read Operations"],"prefix":"10.1177","volume":"95","author":[{"given":"Navid","family":"Toosizadeh","sequence":"first","affiliation":[{"name":"Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering,\r\t\t\t University of Toronto, Toronto, Canada, 10 King's College Road,\r\t\t\t Toronto, Ontario, M5S 3G4.
