We often use words to describe variables in our daily life. Hence, the definition of linguistic variables and linguistic hedges on CFS are introduced. The most commonly used hedges are obtained. This paper also illustrates priority needs and advantages to introduce several distance measures in the case of complex fuzzy sets. Solutions to some problems in different fields are suggested through complex fuzzy distance measure and several distance measures between two complex fuzzy sets are introduced. The boundary for each distance of complex fuzzy sets is obtained.<\/jats:p>","DOI":"10.3233\/ifs-130923","type":"journal-article","created":{"date-parts":[[2019,12,2]],"date-time":"2019-12-02T18:32:49Z","timestamp":1575311569000},"page":"2527-2535","update-policy":"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.1177\/sage-journals-update-policy","source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":50,"title":["Linguistic variable, hedges and several distances on complex fuzzy sets"],"prefix":"10.1177","volume":"26","author":[{"given":"Abd Ulazeez M.","family":"Alkouri","sequence":"first","affiliation":[{"name":"School of Mathematical Sciences, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, 43600 UKM Bangi, Selangor DE, Malaysia"}],"role":[{"vocabulary":"crossref","role":"author"}]},{"given":"Abdul Razak","family":"Salleh","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"School of Mathematical Sciences, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, 43600 UKM Bangi, Selangor DE, Malaysia"}],"role":[{"vocabulary":"crossref","role":"author"}]}],"member":"179","published-online":{"date-parts":[[2014,1]]},"container-title":["Journal of Intelligent & Fuzzy Systems"],"original-title":[],"language":"en","link":[{"URL":"https:\/\/journals.sagepub.com\/doi\/pdf\/10.3233\/IFS-130923","content-type":"application\/pdf","content-version":"vor","intended-application":"text-mining"},{"URL":"https:\/\/journals.sagepub.com\/doi\/pdf\/10.3233\/IFS-130923","content-type":"unspecified","content-version":"vor","intended-application":"similarity-checking"}],"deposited":{"date-parts":[[2026,4,29]],"date-time":"2026-04-29T09:36:33Z","timestamp":1777455393000},"score":1,"resource":{"primary":{"URL":"https:\/\/journals.sagepub.com\/doi\/10.3233\/IFS-130923"}},"subtitle":[],"short-title":[],"issued":{"date-parts":[[2014,1]]},"references-count":0,"journal-issue":{"issue":"5","published-print":{"date-parts":[[2014,5]]}},"alternative-id":["10.3233\/IFS-130923"],"URL":"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.3233\/ifs-130923","relation":{},"ISSN":["1064-1246","1875-8967"],"issn-type":[{"value":"1064-1246","type":"print"},{"value":"1875-8967","type":"electronic"}],"subject":[],"published":{"date-parts":[[2014,1]]}}}
