With the aid of fuzzy concepts and fuzzy operators, we try to cope with the problem by a rule-based equalizer. A self-organizing algorithm consisting of learning, pruning, and refining processes is developed aiming at building the rule-base from labeled observations. The rule-based equalizer makes the decision on the basis of measuring the similarity between the current observation and the obtained rule prototypes. The simulation studies on linear and nonlinear channels are used to demonstrate the performance of the proposed approacht.<\/jats:p>","DOI":"10.3233\/ifs-1997-5402","type":"journal-article","created":{"date-parts":[[2019,12,2]],"date-time":"2019-12-02T17:39:20Z","timestamp":1575308360000},"page":"313-322","source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":2,"title":["Reconstructing Binary Signals by Rule-Based Fuzzy Equalizer with Self-Organizing Capability"],"prefix":"10.1177","volume":"5","author":[{"given":"Junhong","family":"Nie","sequence":"first","affiliation":[{"name":"Advanced Wireless Systems Technology, Northern Telecom, Ottawa, Ontario, Canada K1Y 4H7"}],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]},{"given":"T.H.","family":"Lee","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Department of Electrical Engineering, National University of Singapore, Singapore 0511"}],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]}],"member":"179","published-online":{"date-parts":[[1997,11]]},"container-title":["Journal of Intelligent & Fuzzy Systems"],"original-title":[],"language":"en","link":[{"URL":"https:\/\/journals.sagepub.com\/doi\/pdf\/10.3233\/IFS-1997-5402","content-type":"application\/pdf","content-version":"vor","intended-application":"text-mining"},{"URL":"https:\/\/journals.sagepub.com\/doi\/pdf\/10.3233\/IFS-1997-5402","content-type":"unspecified","content-version":"vor","intended-application":"similarity-checking"}],"deposited":{"date-parts":[[2026,4,29]],"date-time":"2026-04-29T09:45:10Z","timestamp":1777455910000},"score":1,"resource":{"primary":{"URL":"https:\/\/journals.sagepub.com\/doi\/10.3233\/IFS-1997-5402"}},"subtitle":[],"short-title":[],"issued":{"date-parts":[[1997,11]]},"references-count":0,"journal-issue":{"issue":"4","published-print":{"date-parts":[[1997,11]]}},"alternative-id":["10.3233\/IFS-1997-5402"],"URL":"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.3233\/ifs-1997-5402","relation":{},"ISSN":["1064-1246","1875-8967"],"issn-type":[{"value":"1064-1246","type":"print"},{"value":"1875-8967","type":"electronic"}],"subject":[],"published":{"date-parts":[[1997,11]]}}}
