These trajectories, which consist of medical interventions, give us a foundation to evaluate the economics of treatment patterns and model the treatment paths. The aim of this work is to introduce a technical solution for the aforementioned tasks. The developed tools use the open source Observational Health Data Sciences and Informatics Observational Medical Outcomes Partnership Common Data Model to construct treatment trajectories and implement these to compose Markov models for composing financial analysis between standard of care and alternatives.<\/jats:p>","DOI":"10.3233\/shti230258","type":"book-chapter","created":{"date-parts":[[2023,5,19]],"date-time":"2023-05-19T04:47:03Z","timestamp":1684471623000},"source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":0,"title":["Modeling Patient Treatment Trajectories Using Markov Chains for Cost Analysis"],"prefix":"10.3233","author":[{"ORCID":"https:\/\/orcid.org\/0000-0003-0935-3307","authenticated-orcid":false,"given":"Markus","family":"Haug","sequence":"first","affiliation":[{"name":"Institute of Computer Science, University of Tartu, Estonia"}]},{"ORCID":"https:\/\/orcid.org\/0000-0003-2886-6298","authenticated-orcid":false,"given":"Raivo","family":"Kolde","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Institute of Computer Science, University of Tartu, Estonia"}]},{"ORCID":"https:\/\/orcid.org\/0000-0002-3650-8194","authenticated-orcid":false,"given":"Marek","family":"Oja","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Institute of Computer Science, University of Tartu, Estonia"}]},{"ORCID":"https:\/\/orcid.org\/0000-0001-9715-0678","authenticated-orcid":false,"given":"Maarja","family":"Pajusalu","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Institute of Computer Science, University of Tartu, Estonia"}]}],"member":"7437","container-title":["Studies in Health Technology and Informatics","Caring is Sharing \u2013 Exploiting the Value in Data for Health and Innovation"],"original-title":[],"link":[{"URL":"https:\/\/ebooks.iospress.nl\/pdf\/doi\/10.3233\/SHTI230258","content-type":"unspecified","content-version":"vor","intended-application":"similarity-checking"}],"deposited":{"date-parts":[[2023,5,31]],"date-time":"2023-05-31T11:01:12Z","timestamp":1685530872000},"score":1,"resource":{"primary":{"URL":"https:\/\/ebooks.iospress.nl\/doi\/10.3233\/SHTI230258"}},"subtitle":[],"short-title":[],"issued":{"date-parts":[[2023,5,18]]},"ISBN":["9781643683881","9781643683898"],"references-count":0,"URL":"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.3233\/shti230258","relation":{},"ISSN":["0926-9630","1879-8365"],"issn-type":[{"type":"print","value":"0926-9630"},{"type":"electronic","value":"1879-8365"}],"subject":[],"published":{"date-parts":[[2023,5,18]]}}}
