Using a systematic review of six databases, it looked at trials that compared gamified and traditional interventions. Although apps scored highly for functionality, averaging a 4.07 rating, they lacked focus on user engagement. The study reveals that gamification can aid in achievable lifestyle changes and improve cardiometabolic factors, providing insights for future digital health approaches targeting CVD risk reduction.<\/jats:p>","DOI":"10.3233\/shti231284","type":"book-chapter","created":{"date-parts":[[2024,1,25]],"date-time":"2024-01-25T10:32:33Z","timestamp":1706178753000},"source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":2,"title":["Gamified Smartphone-App Interventions on Behaviour and Metabolic Profile in Patients at Risk of Cardiovascular Disease"],"prefix":"10.3233","author":[{"ORCID":"https:\/\/orcid.org\/0000-0002-4883-4966","authenticated-orcid":false,"given":"Sayan","family":"Mitra","sequence":"first","affiliation":[{"name":"Charles Perkins Centre, The University of Sydney, Camperdown, NSW, Australia"},{"name":"Faculty of Medicine and Health, The University of Sydney, Camperdown, NSW, Australia"}]},{"ORCID":"https:\/\/orcid.org\/0000-0002-5828-4283","authenticated-orcid":false,"given":"Cynthia M.","family":"Kroeger","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Charles Perkins Centre, The University of Sydney, Camperdown, NSW, Australia"},{"name":"Faculty of Medicine and Health, The University of Sydney, Camperdown, NSW, Australia"}]},{"ORCID":"https:\/\/orcid.org\/0000-0001-7217-4200","authenticated-orcid":false,"given":"Tian","family":"Wang","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Charles Perkins Centre, The University of Sydney, Camperdown, NSW, Australia"},{"name":"Faculty of Medicine and Health, The University of Sydney, Camperdown, NSW, Australia"}]},{"ORCID":"https:\/\/orcid.org\/0000-0002-4533-5467","authenticated-orcid":false,"given":"Andrius","family":"Masedunskas","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Charles Perkins Centre, The University of Sydney, Camperdown, NSW, Australia"},{"name":"Faculty of Medicine and Health, The University of Sydney, Camperdown, NSW, Australia"}]},{"ORCID":"https:\/\/orcid.org\/0000-0002-0228-7274","authenticated-orcid":false,"given":"Sophie A.","family":"Cassidy","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Charles Perkins Centre, The University of Sydney, Camperdown, NSW, Australia"},{"name":"Faculty of Medicine and Health, The University of Sydney, Camperdown, NSW, Australia"}]},{"ORCID":"https:\/\/orcid.org\/0000-0002-1529-9231","authenticated-orcid":false,"given":"Robin","family":"Huang","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"School of Computer Science, The University of Sydney, Darlington, NSW, Australia"}]},{"ORCID":"https:\/\/orcid.org\/0000-0001-8500-5537","authenticated-orcid":false,"given":"Luigi","family":"Fontana","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Charles Perkins Centre, The University of Sydney, Camperdown, NSW, Australia"},{"name":"Faculty of Medicine and Health, The University of Sydney, Camperdown, NSW, Australia"},{"name":"Department of Endocrinology, Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, Sydney, NSW, Australia"},{"name":"Department of Clinical and Experimental Sciences, Brescia University, Brescia, Italy"}]},{"ORCID":"https:\/\/orcid.org\/0000-0003-1046-0775","authenticated-orcid":false,"given":"Na","family":"Liu","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"The University of Sydney Business School, Darlington, NSW, Australia"}]}],"member":"7437","container-title":["Studies in Health Technology and Informatics","MEDINFO 2023 \u2014 The Future Is Accessible"],"original-title":[],"link":[{"URL":"https:\/\/ebooks.iospress.nl\/pdf\/doi\/10.3233\/SHTI231284","content-type":"unspecified","content-version":"vor","intended-application":"similarity-checking"}],"deposited":{"date-parts":[[2024,1,25]],"date-time":"2024-01-25T10:32:34Z","timestamp":1706178754000},"score":1,"resource":{"primary":{"URL":"https:\/\/ebooks.iospress.nl\/doi\/10.3233\/SHTI231284"}},"subtitle":[],"short-title":[],"issued":{"date-parts":[[2024,1,25]]},"ISBN":["9781643684567","9781643684574"],"references-count":0,"URL":"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.3233\/shti231284","relation":{},"ISSN":["0926-9630","1879-8365"],"issn-type":[{"type":"print","value":"0926-9630"},{"type":"electronic","value":"1879-8365"}],"subject":[],"published":{"date-parts":[[2024,1,25]]}}}
