Competency in the use of an EHR is essential for both undergraduate and graduate nursing students. Masters prepared nurse educator students may become clinical faculty in schools of nursing or clinical nurse educators in hospitals or out-patient settings after graduation. A gap exists in preparing future nurse educators to teach EHR-specific skills to their future nursing student populations and in promoting patient safety through quality improvement initiatives. The purpose of this observational study is to evaluate experiential learning activities for Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) nurse educator students aimed at preparing them to teach EHR-specific skills to undergraduate nursing students and in utilizing an EHR query activity to develop quality improvement plans.<\/jats:p>","DOI":"10.3233\/shti240257","type":"book-chapter","created":{"date-parts":[[2024,7,24]],"date-time":"2024-07-24T11:32:51Z","timestamp":1721820771000},"source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":0,"title":["Enhancing Roles: Teaching the Teachers Through EHR Documentation and Associated Quality of Care Analysis"],"prefix":"10.3233","author":[{"ORCID":"https:\/\/orcid.org\/0000-0003-0117-1971","authenticated-orcid":false,"given":"Mari","family":"Tietze","sequence":"first","affiliation":[{"name":"University of Texas at Arlington, College of Nursing and Health Innovation"}]},{"given":"Patricia E.","family":"Thomas","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"University of Texas at Arlington, College of Nursing and Health Innovation"}]}],"member":"7437","container-title":["Studies in Health Technology and Informatics","Innovation in Applied Nursing Informatics"],"original-title":[],"link":[{"URL":"https:\/\/ebooks.iospress.nl\/pdf\/doi\/10.3233\/SHTI240257","content-type":"unspecified","content-version":"vor","intended-application":"similarity-checking"}],"deposited":{"date-parts":[[2024,7,24]],"date-time":"2024-07-24T11:32:52Z","timestamp":1721820772000},"score":1,"resource":{"primary":{"URL":"https:\/\/ebooks.iospress.nl\/doi\/10.3233\/SHTI240257"}},"subtitle":[],"short-title":[],"issued":{"date-parts":[[2024,7,24]]},"ISBN":["9781643685274"],"references-count":0,"URL":"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.3233\/shti240257","relation":{},"ISSN":["0926-9630","1879-8365"],"issn-type":[{"type":"print","value":"0926-9630"},{"type":"electronic","value":"1879-8365"}],"subject":[],"published":{"date-parts":[[2024,7,24]]}}}
