However, approaches integrating symbolic AI with ML on Knowledge Graphs have not gained significant focus yet. We argue that exploiting RDF\/OWL semantics while conducting ML could provide useful insights. We present a use case using signaling pathways from the Reactome database to explore drug safety. Promising outcomes suggest the need for further investigation and collaboration with domain experts.<\/jats:p>","DOI":"10.3233\/shti240550","type":"book-chapter","created":{"date-parts":[[2024,8,23]],"date-time":"2024-08-23T09:47:53Z","timestamp":1724406473000},"source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":0,"title":["Machine Learning upon RDF Knowledge Graphs for Drug Safety: A Case Study on Reactome Data"],"prefix":"10.3233","author":[{"ORCID":"https:\/\/orcid.org\/0000-0003-3607-9569","authenticated-orcid":false,"given":"Kalliopi","family":"Kastampolidou","sequence":"first","affiliation":[{"name":"Institute of Applied Biosciences, Centre for Research & Technology Hellas, Thermi, Thessaloniki, Greece"}]},{"ORCID":"https:\/\/orcid.org\/0000-0003-2575-4354","authenticated-orcid":false,"given":"George I.","family":"Gavriilidis","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Institute of Applied Biosciences, Centre for Research & Technology Hellas, Thermi, Thessaloniki, Greece"}]},{"ORCID":"https:\/\/orcid.org\/0000-0002-4061-9815","authenticated-orcid":false,"given":"Pantelis","family":"Natsiavas","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Institute of Applied Biosciences, Centre for Research & Technology Hellas, Thermi, Thessaloniki, Greece"}]}],"member":"7437","container-title":["Studies in Health Technology and Informatics","Digital Health and Informatics Innovations for Sustainable Health Care Systems"],"original-title":[],"link":[{"URL":"https:\/\/ebooks.iospress.nl\/pdf\/doi\/10.3233\/SHTI240550","content-type":"unspecified","content-version":"vor","intended-application":"similarity-checking"}],"deposited":{"date-parts":[[2024,8,23]],"date-time":"2024-08-23T09:47:54Z","timestamp":1724406474000},"score":1,"resource":{"primary":{"URL":"https:\/\/ebooks.iospress.nl\/doi\/10.3233\/SHTI240550"}},"subtitle":[],"short-title":[],"issued":{"date-parts":[[2024,8,22]]},"ISBN":["9781643685335"],"references-count":0,"URL":"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.3233\/shti240550","relation":{},"ISSN":["0926-9630","1879-8365"],"issn-type":[{"type":"print","value":"0926-9630"},{"type":"electronic","value":"1879-8365"}],"subject":[],"published":{"date-parts":[[2024,8,22]]}}}
