This paper introduces Covhisto, a web application for visualizing and analysing changes across multiple versions. Methods: Covhisto uses crosswalk tables published by the German Federal Institute for Drugs and Medical Devices (BfArM) and data processing pipeline to track changes between ICD-10-GM and OPS versions. Key features include methods for following individual code histories and analyzing structural changes in the coding systems. Results: Covhisto allows users to trace code evolution and identify changes not automatically captured. Unlike existing solutions, Covhisto creates a ConceptMap across all versions, offering a comprehensive view of changes over time. Conclusion: Finally, Covhisto complements existing solutions by making complex code changes more transparent and easier to understand, supporting healthcare professionals and researchers in their analyses and promoting interoperability of healthcare data.<\/jats:p>","DOI":"10.3233\/shti251394","type":"book-chapter","created":{"date-parts":[[2025,9,3]],"date-time":"2025-09-03T10:24:44Z","timestamp":1756895084000},"source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":0,"title":["Covhisto: A Web Application for Cross-Version Visualization and Analysis of ICD-10-GM and OPS"],"prefix":"10.3233","author":[{"ORCID":"https:\/\/orcid.org\/0000-0001-9775-0657","authenticated-orcid":false,"given":"Tessa","family":"Ohlsen","sequence":"first","affiliation":[{"name":"Section for Clinical Research IT, Institute of Medical Biometry and Statistics, University Hospital Schleswig-Holstein, University of Luebeck, Germany"},{"name":"Institute for Medical Informatics, University of Luebeck, Germany"}]},{"ORCID":"https:\/\/orcid.org\/0009-0003-1817-0083","authenticated-orcid":false,"given":"Simon","family":"M\u00fcller","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Institute for Medical Informatics, University of Luebeck, Germany"}]},{"ORCID":"https:\/\/orcid.org\/0000-0002-3274-8422","authenticated-orcid":false,"given":"Josef","family":"Ingenerf","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Institute for Medical Informatics, University of Luebeck, Germany"}]}],"member":"7437","container-title":["Studies in Health Technology and Informatics","German Medical Data Sciences 2025: GMDS Illuminates Health"],"original-title":[],"link":[{"URL":"https:\/\/ebooks.iospress.nl\/pdf\/doi\/10.3233\/SHTI251394","content-type":"unspecified","content-version":"vor","intended-application":"similarity-checking"}],"deposited":{"date-parts":[[2025,9,3]],"date-time":"2025-09-03T10:24:44Z","timestamp":1756895084000},"score":1,"resource":{"primary":{"URL":"https:\/\/ebooks.iospress.nl\/doi\/10.3233\/SHTI251394"}},"subtitle":[],"short-title":[],"issued":{"date-parts":[[2025,9,3]]},"ISBN":["9781643686158"],"references-count":0,"URL":"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.3233\/shti251394","relation":{},"ISSN":["0926-9630","1879-8365"],"issn-type":[{"type":"print","value":"0926-9630"},{"type":"electronic","value":"1879-8365"}],"subject":[],"published":{"date-parts":[[2025,9,3]]}}}
