The numerical modeling makes use of an advanced elastoplastic, state dependent constitutive model, the ECP model, also known as Hujeux's model. Therefore, the cyclic loading simulations allowed identifying three different mechanisms, depending on the amplitude of the first load cycle, that control the level of friction degradation. Furthermore, the analysis also offers useful insights regarding the modification of the pile static resistance once this one has been cyclically loaded.
