High-Definition Fiber Tractography (HDFT) is a novel imaging modality that allows visualizing and quantifying, directly, the degree of axons damage, predicting functional deficits due to traumatic axonal injury and loss of cortical projections. This imaging modality is based on diffusion technology. Being a novel modality, validation and quality control are essential. Thus this study aims at the development of a brain phantom to mimic the human brain in order to fill some gaps that currently exist in this area. This paper is focused on this novel imaging approach, the role of brain phantoms on its validation and the quality control, as well as, on the materials used in their construction. Furthermore, some important characteristics of fibrous materials for brain phantom are also discussed.<\/jats:p>","DOI":"10.3233\/978-1-61499-474-9-163","type":"book-chapter","created":{"date-parts":[[2025,2,21]],"date-time":"2025-02-21T08:47:32Z","timestamp":1740127652000},"source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":0,"title":["Study on fibrous materials for brain phantoms"],"prefix":"10.3233","author":[{"family":"Guise Catarina","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[]},{"family":"Fangueiro Raul","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[]},{"family":"Nóbrega João Miguel","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[]},{"family":"Schneider Walter","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[]}],"member":"7437","container-title":["Studies in Health Technology and Informatics","Innovation in Medicine and Healthcare 2014"],"original-title":[],"deposited":{"date-parts":[[2025,2,21]],"date-time":"2025-02-21T09:42:54Z","timestamp":1740130974000},"score":1,"resource":{"primary":{"URL":"https:\/\/www.medra.org\/servlet\/aliasResolver?alias=iospressISSNISBN&issn=0926-9630&volume=207&spage=163"}},"subtitle":[],"short-title":[],"issued":{"date-parts":[[2014]]},"references-count":0,"URL":"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.3233\/978-1-61499-474-9-163","relation":{},"ISSN":["0926-9630"],"issn-type":[{"value":"0926-9630","type":"print"}],"subject":[],"published":{"date-parts":[[2014]]}}}
