It also sheds light on ties such as genetic relationships between distant populations, which could aid in criminal ancestry identification and cross-border crime resolution. The study has a regulatory framework governing the exchange of DNA between EU member-states under the Pr\u00fcm II Regulation. Given that the regulation facilitates the exchange of DNA for law enforcement purposes, national law must ensure compliance.
