{"status":"ok","message-type":"work","message-version":"1.0.0","message":{"indexed":{"date-parts":[[2024,4,14]],"date-time":"2024-04-14T13:49:05Z","timestamp":1713102545952},"reference-count":32,"publisher":"Korean Ophthalmological Society","issue":"2","license":[{"start":{"date-parts":[[2022,2,15]],"date-time":"2022-02-15T00:00:00Z","timestamp":1644883200000},"content-version":"tdm","delay-in-days":0,"URL":"http:\/\/creativecommons.org\/licenses\/by-nc\/4.0\/"}],"content-domain":{"domain":["jkos.org"],"crossmark-restriction":true},"short-container-title":["J Korean Ophthalmol Soc"],"published-print":{"date-parts":[[2022,2,15]]},"abstract":"<jats:p>Purpose: To compare the clinical outcomes of cataract surgery using the ARTIS \u00ae PL E (Cristalens Industrie, Lannion, France) intraocular lens (IOL) and conventional Tecnis \u00ae ZCB00 (Johnson &amp; Johnson Vision, Santa Ana, CA, USA) IOL.Methods: This retrospective study examined patients who underwent in-the-bag implantation of either an ARTIS \u00ae PL E (33 eyes, group A) or Tecnis \u00ae ZCB00 (45 eyes, group B) IOL after phacoemulsification performed by a single surgeon. Best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA), spherical equivalent, and higher-order aberrations (HOA) were measured 1 and 3 months after cataract surgery.Results: Preoperative BCVA did not differ significantly in groups A and B. Postoperative BCVA at 1 and 3 months improved significantly (&lt;i&gt;p&lt;\/i&gt; &lt; 0.001) in both groups compared to preoperative baseline BCVA. At 1 and 3 months postoperatively, total HOA, spherical aberration, and coma were significantly lower compared to the preoperative baseline HOA (&lt;i&gt;p&lt;\/i&gt; &lt; 0.05) in both groups. However, there were no significant differences in the trefoil values 1 and 3 months postoperatively compared to the preoperative baseline in both groups. The absolute refractive error 3 months postoperatively was 0.27 \u00b1 0.20 (group A) and 0.28 \u00b1 0.20 (group B), both within \u00b1 0.50 diopters of the targeted goal diopter; there were no significant differences in the accuracy or predictability of the IOL power calculation in both groups (&lt;i&gt;p&lt;\/i&gt; = 0.390, &lt;i&gt;p&lt;\/i&gt; = 0.959). The absolute refractive error 1 and 3 months postoperatively did not differ significantly; there were no significant differences in the stability of both IOLs (&lt;i&gt;p&lt;\/i&gt; = 0.482, &lt;i&gt;p&lt;\/i&gt; = 0.372).Conclusions: Conventional cataract surgery using the ARTIS \u00ae PL E IOL significantly increased the BCVA, while obtaining comparable clinical results to the verified Tecnis \u00ae ZCB00 IOL in postoperative visual acuity and
