The analysis explores the roots of machismo in Mexican culture, the impact of the maquiladora industry on women's lives, and the rise of feminist activism in response to these challenges. Emphasizing the intersection of gender violence and legal frameworks, the article incorporates feminist legal theory to argue for substantial legal reforms to combat the normalization of machismo and feminicide. It further discusses the resilience and determination of Juarense women, portraying their efforts as part of the broader global feminist movement.<\/jats:p>","DOI":"10.3389\/fsoc.2024.1391529","type":"journal-article","created":{"date-parts":[[2024,10,28]],"date-time":"2024-10-28T12:34:39Z","timestamp":1730118879000},"update-policy":"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.3389\/crossmark-policy","source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":3,"title":["Feminism in the borderscape: Juarense women against injustice"],"prefix":"10.3389","volume":"9","author":[{"given":"Asma","family":"Mehan","sequence":"first","affiliation":[]},{"given":"Natalia","family":"Dominguez","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[]}],"member":"1965","published-online":{"date-parts":[[2024,10,28]]},"reference":[{"key":"B1","doi-asserted-by":"publisher","first-page":"2203","DOI":"10.1080\/09654313.2024.2371512","article-title":"Kurdish women's interactions in European urban public space and the extent of their social integration","volume":"32","author":"Alizadeh","year":"2024","journal-title":"Eur.
