However, with the administration of many types of vaccines and the constant mutation of viruses, the issue of how effective these vaccines are in protecting the population is raised. This work aimed to present a mathematical model that investigates the imperfect vaccine and finds the additional measures needed to help reduce the burden of disease. We determine the R0 threshold of disease spread and use stability analysis to determine the condition that will result in disease eradication. We also fitted our model to COVID-19 data from Morocco to estimate the parameters of the model. The sensitivity analysis of the basic reproduction number, with respect to the parameters of the model, is simulated for the four possible scenarios of the disease progress. Finally, we investigate the optimal containment measures that could be implemented with vaccination. To illustrate our results, we perform the numerical simulations of optimal control.<\/jats:p>","DOI":"10.3390\/axioms11030124","type":"journal-article","created":{"date-parts":[[2022,3,10]],"date-time":"2022-03-10T11:46:47Z","timestamp":1646912807000},"page":"124","update-policy":"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.3390\/mdpi_crossmark_policy","source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":3,"title":["Modeling the Impact of the Imperfect Vaccination of the COVID-19 with Optimal Containment Strategy"],"prefix":"10.3390","volume":"11","author":[{"given":"Lahbib","family":"Benahmadi","sequence":"first","affiliation":[{"name":"Fundamental and Applied Mathematics Laboratory, Department of Mathematics and Computer Science, Faculty of Sciences Ain Chock, Hassan II University of Casablanca, Maarif B.P 5366, Casablanca 20100, Morocco"}],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]},{"ORCID":"https:\/\/orcid.org\/0000-0001-6564-0971","authenticated-orcid":false,"given":"Mustapha","family":"Lhous","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Fundamental and Applied Mathematics Laboratory, Department of Mathematics and Computer Science, Faculty of Sciences Ain Chock, Hassan II University of Casablanca, Maarif B.P 5366, Casablanca 20100, Morocco"}],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]},{"ORCID":"https:\/\/orcid.org\/0000-0001-8471-7807","authenticated-orcid":false,"given":"Abdessamad","family":"Tridane","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Department of Mathematical Sciences, United Arab Emirates University, Al Ain P.O.
