By combining numerical simulation, stability and bifurcation theory, most of the important dynamics of the Lorenz system family are revealed, including self-excited Lorenz-like attractors, Hopf bifurcation and generic pitchfork bifurcation at the origin, singularly degenerate heteroclinic cycles, degenerate pitchfork bifurcation at non-isolated equilibria, invariant algebraic surface, heteroclinic orbits and so on. The obtained results may verify the generalization of the second part of the celebrated Hilbert\u2019s sixteenth problem to some degree, showing that the number and mutual disposition of attractors and repellers may depend on the degree of chaotic multidimensional dynamical systems.<\/jats:p>","DOI":"10.3390\/axioms13090625","type":"journal-article","created":{"date-parts":[[2024,9,13]],"date-time":"2024-09-13T03:03:37Z","timestamp":1726196617000},"page":"625","update-policy":"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.3390\/mdpi_crossmark_policy","source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":4,"title":["Dynamics of a New Four-Thirds-Degree Sub-Quadratic Lorenz-like System"],"prefix":"10.3390","volume":"13","author":[{"ORCID":"https:\/\/orcid.org\/0000-0002-6467-9759","authenticated-orcid":false,"given":"Guiyao","family":"Ke","sequence":"first","affiliation":[{"name":"School of Information, Zhejiang Guangsha Vocational and Technical University of Construction, Dongyang 322100, China"}],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]},{"ORCID":"https:\/\/orcid.org\/0000-0002-2994-5070","authenticated-orcid":false,"given":"Jun","family":"Pan","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Department of Big Data Science, School of Science, Zhejiang University of Science and Technology, Hangzhou 310023, China"}],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]},{"ORCID":"https:\/\/orcid.org\/0000-0002-1800-9826","authenticated-orcid":false,"given":"Feiyu","family":"Hu","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"College of Sustainability and Tourism, Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University, Beppu 874-8577, Oita, Japan"}],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]},{"given":"Haijun","family":"Wang","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"School of Electronic and Information Engineering, Taizhou University, Taizhou 318000, China"}],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]}],"member":"1968","published-online":{"date-parts":[[2024,9,12]]},"reference":[{"key":"ref_1","doi-asserted-by":"crossref","first-page":"7","DOI":"10.1007\/BF03025291","article-title":"Mathematical problems for the next century","volume":"20","author":"Smale","year":"1998","journal-title":"Math.
