The entropy generation number is formulated by an integral of the local rate of entropy generation along the width of the surface based on an equal number of microchannels and no-slip gaps interspersed between those microchannels. The velocity, the temperature, the velocity gradient and the temperature gradient adjacent to the wall are substituted into this equation resulting from the momentum and energy equations obtained numerically by an explicit Runge-Kutta (4, 5) formula, the Dormand-Prince pair and shooting method. The entropy generation number, as well as the Bejan number, for various values of the involved parameters of the problem are also presented and discussed in detail.<\/jats:p>","DOI":"10.3390\/e14010001","type":"journal-article","created":{"date-parts":[[2011,12,27]],"date-time":"2011-12-27T10:19:40Z","timestamp":1324981180000},"page":"1-23","update-policy":"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.3390\/mdpi_crossmark_policy","source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":19,"title":["Entropy Generation Analysis of Open Parallel Microchannels Embedded Within a Permeable Continuous Moving Surface: Application to Magnetohydrodynamics (MHD)"],"prefix":"10.3390","volume":"14","author":[{"given":"Mohammad H.","family":"Yazdi","sequence":"first","affiliation":[{"name":"Department of Mechanical and Materials Engineering, Faculty of Engineering and Built Environment, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, 43600 UKM, Bangi, Selangor, Malaysia"},{"name":"Solar Energy Research Institute (SERI), Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, 43600 UKM, Bangi, Selangor, Malaysia"}],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]},{"given":"Shahrir","family":"Abdullah","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Department of Mechanical and Materials Engineering, Faculty of Engineering and Built Environment, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, 43600 UKM, Bangi, Selangor, Malaysia"}],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]},{"given":"Ishak","family":"Hashim","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"School of Mathematical Sciences, Faculty of Science and Technology, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, 43600 UKM, Bangi, Selangor, Malaysia"}],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]},{"given":"Kamaruzzaman","family":"Sopian","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Solar Energy Research Institute (SERI), Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, 43600 UKM, Bangi, Selangor, Malaysia"}],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]}],"member":"1968","published-online":{"date-parts":[[2011,12,27]]},"reference":[{"key":"ref_1","doi-asserted-by":"crossref","first-page":"917","DOI":"10.1016\/j.snb.2007.10.064","article-title":"Mems-based micropumps in drug delivery and biomedical applications","volume":"130","author":"Nisar","year":"2008","journal-title":"Sens.
