Then, this research demonstrates how the factorization of the irreversible entropy production leads to quasi-Hamiltonian formulations, and how this can be used for stability analysis. The Liouville geometry approach to contact geometry is summarized, and how this leads to the definition of port-thermodynamic systems is discussed. This notion is utilized for control by interconnection of thermodynamic systems.<\/jats:p>","DOI":"10.3390\/e25040577","type":"journal-article","created":{"date-parts":[[2023,3,28]],"date-time":"2023-03-28T02:11:40Z","timestamp":1679969500000},"page":"577","update-policy":"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.3390\/mdpi_crossmark_policy","source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":3,"title":["Geometric Modeling for Control of Thermodynamic Systems"],"prefix":"10.3390","volume":"25","author":[{"ORCID":"https:\/\/orcid.org\/0000-0002-2383-9234","authenticated-orcid":false,"given":"Arjan","family":"van der Schaft","sequence":"first","affiliation":[{"name":"Bernoulli Institute for Mathematics, Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence, Jan C.
