However, the development of modeling and simulation infrastructure supporting MBSE is lacking, which limits the application of MBSE. To address this problem, this paper proposes an SES-X methodology that integrates system modeling (following SES philosophy) with system simulation (supported by X language) to support the full lifecycle of MBSE modeling, including system analysis, architecture decomposition, physical modeling, and simulation. In the process, SES-X performs two levels of model pruning for model verification and simulation efficiency. This paper also conducts a case study on a car model to illustrate the effectiveness of the SES-X methodology.<\/jats:p>","DOI":"10.3390\/info14010023","type":"journal-article","created":{"date-parts":[[2022,12,30]],"date-time":"2022-12-30T03:18:18Z","timestamp":1672370298000},"page":"23","update-policy":"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.3390\/mdpi_crossmark_policy","source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":9,"title":["SES-X: A MBSE Methodology Based on SES\/MB and X Language"],"prefix":"10.3390","volume":"14","author":[{"given":"Kunyu","family":"Xie","sequence":"first","affiliation":[{"name":"School of Automation Science and Electrical Engineering, Engineering Research Center of Complex Product Advanced Manufacturing Systems Ministry of Education, Beihang University, No. 37, Xueyuan Road, Beijing 100191, China"}],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]},{"ORCID":"https:\/\/orcid.org\/0000-0003-1989-6102","authenticated-orcid":false,"given":"Lin","family":"Zhang","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"School of Automation Science and Electrical Engineering, Engineering Research Center of Complex Product Advanced Manufacturing Systems Ministry of Education, Beihang University, No. 37, Xueyuan Road, Beijing 100191, China"}],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]},{"given":"Xin","family":"Li","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Department of Information Systems, College of Business\/School of Data Science, City University of Hong Kong, Lau Ming Wai Academic Building, Hong Kong, China"}],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]},{"given":"Pengfei","family":"Gu","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"School of Automation Science and Electrical Engineering, Engineering Research Center of Complex Product Advanced Manufacturing Systems Ministry of Education, Beihang University, No. 37, Xueyuan Road, Beijing 100191, China"}],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]},{"given":"Zhen","family":"Chen","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"School of Automation Science and Electrical Engineering, Engineering Research Center of Complex Product Advanced Manufacturing Systems Ministry of Education, Beihang University, No. 37, Xueyuan Road, Beijing 100191, China"}],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]}],"member":"1968","published-online":{"date-parts":[[2022,12,29]]},"reference":[{"key":"ref_1","doi-asserted-by":"crossref","unstructured":"Zeigler, B.P., Mittal, S., and Traore, M.K.
