MatMouse supports the implementation of task-based visual search experiments. The proposed toolbox provides specific functions which can be utilized for the experimental building and mouse tracking processes, the analysis of the recorded data in specific metrics, the production of related visualizations, as well as for the generation of statistical grayscale heatmaps which could serve as an objective ground truth product. MatMouse can be executed as a standalone package or integrated in existing MATLAB scripts and\/or toolboxes. In order to highlight the functionalities of the introduced toolbox, a complete case study example is presented. MatMouse is freely distributed to the scientific community under the third version of GNU General Public License (GPL v3) on GitHub platform.<\/jats:p>","DOI":"10.3390\/mti4040083","type":"journal-article","created":{"date-parts":[[2020,11,26]],"date-time":"2020-11-26T09:04:15Z","timestamp":1606381455000},"page":"83","update-policy":"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.3390\/mdpi_crossmark_policy","source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":9,"title":["MatMouse: A Mouse Movements Tracking and Analysis Toolbox for Visual Search Experiments"],"prefix":"10.3390","volume":"4","author":[{"ORCID":"https:\/\/orcid.org\/0000-0002-3030-4203","authenticated-orcid":false,"given":"Vassilios","family":"Krassanakis","sequence":"first","affiliation":[{"name":"Department of Surveying and Geoinformatics Engineering, School of Engineering, University of West Attica, 28 Agiou Spyridonos Str., 12243 Egaleo, Greece"}],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]},{"given":"Anastasios L.","family":"Kesidis","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Department of Surveying and Geoinformatics Engineering, School of Engineering, University of West Attica, 28 Agiou Spyridonos Str., 12243 Egaleo, Greece"}],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]}],"member":"1968","published-online":{"date-parts":[[2020,11,26]]},"reference":[{"key":"ref_1","doi-asserted-by":"crossref","first-page":"R155","DOI":"10.1016\/j.cub.2019.01.032","article-title":"Visual Attention: The Multiple Ways in which History Shapes Selection","volume":"29","author":"Wolfe","year":"2019","journal-title":"Curr.
