Previous research has illustrated the potential for VR to enhance design reviews, especially the ability to convey spatial information, but there has been limited research into how VR can convey additional BIM metadata. A user study with 17 healthcare professionals assessed participants\u2019 performances and preferences for completing design reviews in VR or using a traditional design review system of PDF drawings and a 3D model. The VR condition had a higher task completion rate, a higher SUS score and generally faster completion times. VR increases the effectiveness of a design review conducted by healthcare professionals.<\/jats:p>","DOI":"10.3390\/mti7060060","type":"journal-article","created":{"date-parts":[[2023,6,8]],"date-time":"2023-06-08T02:02:28Z","timestamp":1686189748000},"page":"60","update-policy":"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.3390\/mdpi_crossmark_policy","source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":3,"title":["On the Effectiveness of Using Virtual Reality to View BIM Metadata in Architectural Design Reviews for Healthcare"],"prefix":"10.3390","volume":"7","author":[{"given":"Emma","family":"Buchanan","sequence":"first","affiliation":[{"name":"Architecture HDT Ltd., Christchurch 8023, New Zealand"}]},{"given":"Giuseppe","family":"Loporcaro","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Department of Civil & Natural Resources Engineering, University of Canterbury, Christchurch 8140, New Zealand"}]},{"ORCID":"https:\/\/orcid.org\/0000-0001-7203-2034","authenticated-orcid":false,"given":"Stephan","family":"Lukosch","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"HIT Lab NZ, University of Canterbury, Christchurch 8140, New Zealand"}]}],"member":"1968","published-online":{"date-parts":[[2023,6,7]]},"reference":[{"key":"ref_1","unstructured":"McKinsey Global Institute (2017).
