We proposed that to maximize the outreach and impact, scientists should use different media to communicate different aspects of science, from core ideas to methods. The paper uses an example of a debate surrounding a now-retracted article in the Nature journal, in which open data, preprints, social media, and blogs are being used for a meaningful scientific conversation. The case embodied the central idea of Total SciComm: the scientific community employs every medium to communicate scientific ideas and engages all scientists in the process.<\/jats:p>","DOI":"10.3390\/publications9030031","type":"journal-article","created":{"date-parts":[[2021,7,22]],"date-time":"2021-07-22T22:37:14Z","timestamp":1626993434000},"page":"31","update-policy":"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.3390\/mdpi_crossmark_policy","source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":6,"title":["Total SciComm: A Strategy for Communicating Open Science"],"prefix":"10.3390","volume":"9","author":[{"ORCID":"https:\/\/orcid.org\/0000-0002-8292-0120","authenticated-orcid":false,"given":"Manh-Toan","family":"Ho","sequence":"first","affiliation":[{"name":"Centre for Interdisciplinary Social Research, Phenikaa University, Hanoi 100803, Vietnam"}],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]},{"ORCID":"https:\/\/orcid.org\/0000-0002-4432-9081","authenticated-orcid":false,"given":"Manh-Tung","family":"Ho","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Centre for Interdisciplinary Social Research, Phenikaa University, Hanoi 100803, Vietnam"}],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]},{"ORCID":"https:\/\/orcid.org\/0000-0003-0790-1576","authenticated-orcid":false,"given":"Quan-Hoang","family":"Vuong","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Centre for Interdisciplinary Social Research, Phenikaa University, Hanoi 100803, Vietnam"}],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]}],"member":"1968","published-online":{"date-parts":[[2021,7,22]]},"reference":[{"key":"ref_1","unstructured":"Weiss, B.
