However, few studies have been conducted for studying the association between gender and OA publishing likelihood. Therefore, the current study explores the impacts of gender-based authorship structures on OA publishing in Vietnamese social sciences and humanities. Bayesian analysis was performed on a dataset of 3122 publications in social sciences and humanities. We found that publications with mixed-gender authorship were most likely to be published under Gold Access terms (26.31\u201331.65%). In contrast, the likelihood of publications with the solely male or female author(s) was lower. It is also notable that if female researcher(s) held the first-author position in an article of mixed-gender authorship, the publication would be less likely to be published under Gold Access terms (26.31% compared to 31.65% of male-first-author structure). In addition, publications written by a solo female author (14.19%) or a group of female authors (10.72%) had lower OA publishing probabilities than those written by a solely male author(s) (17.14%). These findings hint at the possible advantage of gender diversity and the disadvantage of gender homophily (especially female-only authorship) on OA publishing likelihood. Moreover, they show there might be some negative impacts of gender inequality on OA publishing. As a result, the notion of gender diversity, financial and policy supports are recommended to promote the open science movement.<\/jats:p>","DOI":"10.3390\/publications9040045","type":"journal-article","created":{"date-parts":[[2021,10,11]],"date-time":"2021-10-11T21:45:32Z","timestamp":1633988732000},"page":"45","update-policy":"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.3390\/mdpi_crossmark_policy","source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":8,"title":["Open Access Publishing Probabilities Based on Gender and Authorship Structures in Vietnam"],"prefix":"10.3390","volume":"9","author":[{"given":"Huyen Thanh T.","family":"Nguyen","sequence":"first","affiliation":[{"name":"Centre for Interdisciplinary Social Research, Phenikaa University, Hanoi 100803, Vietnam"}],"role":[{"vocabulary":"crossref","role":"author"}]},{"ORCID":"https:\/\/orcid.org\/0000-0002-7520-3844","authenticated-orcid":false,"given":"Minh-Hoang","family":"Nguyen","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Centre for Interdisciplinary Social Research, Phenikaa University, Hanoi 100803, Vietnam"}],"role":[{"vocabulary":"crossref","role":"author"}]},{"ORCID":"https:\/\/orcid.org\/0000-0003-3384-4827","authenticated-orcid":false,"given":"Tam-Tri","family":"Le","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Centre for Interdisciplinary Social Research, Phenikaa University, Hanoi 100803, Vietnam"},{"name":"A.I. for Social Data Lab, Vuong & Associates, Hanoi 100000, Vietnam"}],"role":[{"vocabulary":"crossref","role":"author"}]},{"ORCID":"https:\/\/orcid.org\/0000-0002-8292-0120","authenticated-orcid":false,"given":"Manh-Toan","family":"Ho","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Centre for Interdisciplinary Social Research, Phenikaa University, Hanoi 100803, Vietnam"},{"name":"A.I. for Social Data Lab, Vuong & Associates, Hanoi 100000, Vietnam"}],"role":[{"vocabulary":"crossref","role":"author"}]},{"ORCID":"https:\/\/orcid.org\/0000-0003-0790-1576","authenticated-orcid":false,"given":"Quan-Hoang","family":"Vuong","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Centre for Interdisciplinary Social Research, Phenikaa University, Hanoi 100803, Vietnam"}],"role":[{"vocabulary":"crossref","role":"author"}]}],"member":"1968","published-online":{"date-parts":[[2021,10,5]]},"reference":[{"key":"ref_1","doi-asserted-by":"crossref","first-page":"4609","DOI":"10.1073\/pnas.1914221117","article-title":"Historical comparison of gender inequality in scientific careers across countries and disciplines","volume":"117","author":"Huang","year":"2020","journal-title":"Proc.
