While the canopy radius was fitted as a Burr distribution, the canopy height of the CN-Din forest followed a Weibull distribution. Then, the canopy parameter distribution was obtained, and we improved the look-up table values of the Noah-MP land surface model. It was found that the influence on the simulation of the energy fluxes could not be negligible, and the main influence of these canopy parameters was on the latent heat flux, which could decrease up to \u221211% in the midday while increasing up to 15% in the nighttime. Additionally, this work indicated that the description of the canopy characteristics for the land surface model should be improved to accurately represent the heterogeneity of the underlying surface.<\/jats:p>","DOI":"10.3390\/rs12244120","type":"journal-article","created":{"date-parts":[[2020,12,16]],"date-time":"2020-12-16T22:12:06Z","timestamp":1608156726000},"page":"4120","update-policy":"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.3390\/mdpi_crossmark_policy","source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":1,"title":["Improvement and Impacts of Forest Canopy Parameters on Noah-MP Land Surface Model from UAV-Based Photogrammetry"],"prefix":"10.3390","volume":"12","author":[{"ORCID":"https:\/\/orcid.org\/0000-0001-9915-9676","authenticated-orcid":false,"given":"Ming","family":"Chang","sequence":"first","affiliation":[{"name":"Guangdong-Hongkong-Macau Joint Laboratory of Collaborative Innovation for Environmental Quality, Institute for Environmental and Climate Research, Jinan University, Guangzhou 510443, China"}],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]},{"ORCID":"https:\/\/orcid.org\/0000-0001-8105-8367","authenticated-orcid":false,"given":"Shengjie","family":"Zhu","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Department of Environmental Science, Guangdong Polytechnic of Environmental Protection Engineering, Foshan 528216, China"}],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]},{"ORCID":"https:\/\/orcid.org\/0000-0001-5808-3900","authenticated-orcid":false,"given":"Jiachen","family":"Cao","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Guangdong-Hongkong-Macau Joint Laboratory of Collaborative Innovation for Environmental Quality, Institute for Environmental and Climate Research, Jinan University, Guangzhou 510443, China"}],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]},{"ORCID":"https:\/\/orcid.org\/0000-0003-2473-4968","authenticated-orcid":false,"given":"Bingyin","family":"Chen","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Guangdong-Hongkong-Macau Joint Laboratory of Collaborative Innovation for Environmental Quality, Institute for Environmental and Climate Research, Jinan University, Guangzhou 510443, China"}],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]},{"ORCID":"https:\/\/orcid.org\/0000-0003-2497-024X","authenticated-orcid":false,"given":"Qi","family":"Zhang","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Guangdong Province Key Laboratory for Climate Change and Natural Disaster Studies, School of Atmospheric Sciences, Sun Yat-sen University, Guangzhou 510275, China"}],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]},{"ORCID":"https:\/\/orcid.org\/0000-0002-8153-0286","authenticated-orcid":false,"given":"Weihua","family":"Chen","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Guangdong-Hongkong-Macau Joint Laboratory of Collaborative Innovation for Environmental Quality, Institute for Environmental and Climate Research, Jinan University, Guangzhou 510443, China"}],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]},{"ORCID":"https:\/\/orcid.org\/0000-0002-9463-9117","authenticated-orcid":false,"given":"Shiguo","family":"Jia","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Guangdong Province Key Laboratory for Climate Change and Natural Disaster Studies, School of Atmospheric Sciences, Sun Yat-sen University, Guangzhou 510275, China"}],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]},{"ORCID":"https:\/\/orcid.org\/0000-0002-2655-7611","authenticated-orcid":false,"given":"Padmaja","family":"Krishnan","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering, National University of Singapore, Singapore 117576, Singapore"}],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]},{"given":"Xuemei","family":"Wang","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Guangdong-Hongkong-Macau Joint Laboratory of Collaborative Innovation for Environmental Quality, Institute for Environmental and Climate Research, Jinan University, Guangzhou 510443, China"}],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]}],"member":"1968","published-online":{"date-parts":[[2020,12,16]]},"reference":[{"key":"ref_1","doi-asserted-by":"crossref","first-page":"479","DOI":"10.1002\/joc.893","article-title":"The evolution of, and revolution in, land surface schemes designed for climate models","volume":"23","author":"Pitman","year":"2003","journal-title":"Int.
