The spectral resolution, spectral range, spatial resolution, and signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) all significantly impact the complexity and cost of hyperspectral SCRs, so it is important to understand their effect on cross-calibration quality. This paper discusses the results of a trade study to quantify the effects of varying ground sample distance (GSD), number of independent samples, and instrument\/scene noise on cross-calibration gain uncertainties. The trade study used a simulated SCR cross-calibration with near-simultaneous nadir overpasses (SNOs) of the Landsat 8 OLI acting as the reference instrument and the DLR Earth Sensing Imaging Spectrometer (DESIS) acting as a surrogate SCR hyperspectral instrument. Results demonstrate that cross-calibration uncertainty is only minimally affected by spatial resolution and SNR, which may allow SCR instruments to be developed at a lower cost.<\/jats:p>","DOI":"10.3390\/rs15184419","type":"journal-article","created":{"date-parts":[[2023,9,8]],"date-time":"2023-09-08T07:57:17Z","timestamp":1694159837000},"page":"4419","update-policy":"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.3390\/mdpi_crossmark_policy","source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":7,"title":["Impact of a Hyperspectral Satellite Cross-Calibration Radiometer\u2019s Spatial and Noise Characteristics on Cross-Calibration"],"prefix":"10.3390","volume":"15","author":[{"given":"Robert E.","family":"Ryan","sequence":"first","affiliation":[{"name":"Innovative Imaging & Research Corp, Building 1103, Suite 140 C, Stennis Space Center, MS 39520, USA"}]},{"given":"Mary","family":"Pagnutti","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Innovative Imaging & Research Corp, Building 1103, Suite 140 C, Stennis Space Center, MS 39520, USA"}]},{"given":"Max","family":"Huggins","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Innovative Imaging & Research Corp, Building 1103, Suite 140 C, Stennis Space Center, MS 39520, USA"}]},{"given":"Kara","family":"Burch","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Innovative Imaging & Research Corp, Building 1103, Suite 140 C, Stennis Space Center, MS 39520, USA"}]},{"given":"David","family":"Sitton","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Innovative Imaging & Research Corp, Building 1103, Suite 140 C, Stennis Space Center, MS 39520, USA"}]},{"given":"Kimberly","family":"Manriquez","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Innovative Imaging & Research Corp, Building 1103, Suite 140 C, Stennis Space Center, MS 39520, USA"}]},{"given":"Hannah","family":"Ryan","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Innovative Imaging & Research Corp, Building 1103, Suite 140 C, Stennis Space Center, MS 39520, USA"}]}],"member":"1968","published-online":{"date-parts":[[2023,9,8]]},"reference":[{"key":"ref_1","doi-asserted-by":"crossref","first-page":"12275","DOI":"10.3390\/rs61212275","article-title":"Landsat-8 operational land imager radiometric calibration and stability","volume":"6","author":"Brian","year":"2014","journal-title":"Remote Sens."},{"key":"ref_2","doi-asserted-by":"crossref","first-page":"111369","DOI":"10.1016\/j.rse.2019.111369","article-title":"An inter-comparison exercise of Sentinel-2 radiometric validations assessed by independent expert groups","volume":"233","author":"Lamquin","year":"2019","journal-title":"Remote Sens.
