This research evaluates the use of high spatial resolution (IKONOS) and medium spatial resolution (Landsat ETM+) satellite imagery for assessing vegetation diversity in a dry tropical forest in central India. Contrary to expectations, across multiple measures of plant distribution and diversity, the resolution of IKONOS data is too fine for the purpose of plant diversity assessment and Landsat imagery performs better.<\/jats:p>","DOI":"10.3390\/rs2020478","type":"journal-article","created":{"date-parts":[[2010,2,2]],"date-time":"2010-02-02T11:18:13Z","timestamp":1265109493000},"page":"478-496","update-policy":"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.3390\/mdpi_crossmark_policy","source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":105,"title":["Assessing Plant Diversity in a Dry Tropical Forest: Comparing the Utility of Landsat and Ikonos Satellite Images"],"prefix":"10.3390","volume":"2","author":[{"given":"Harini","family":"Nagendra","sequence":"first","affiliation":[{"name":"Ashoka Trust for Research in Ecology and the Environment (ATREE), Royal Enclave, Srirampura, Jakkur Post, Bangalore 560064, Karnataka, India"},{"name":"Center for the Study of Institutions, Population, and Environmental Change (CIPEC), Indiana University, 408 N.
