After the creation of orthophotographs and a canopy height model using image-based modelling, new archaeological information is extracted from this vegetation model by applying relief-enhancing visualisation techniques. Through interpretation of the resulting data, a combination of the co-registered spectral and geometrical vegetation dimensions clearly add new depth to interpretative mapping, which is typically based solely on colour differences in orthophotographs.<\/jats:p>","DOI":"10.3390\/rs8090752","type":"journal-article","created":{"date-parts":[[2016,9,12]],"date-time":"2016-09-12T10:24:41Z","timestamp":1473675881000},"page":"752","update-policy":"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.3390\/mdpi_crossmark_policy","source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":28,"title":["Engaging with the Canopy\u2014Multi-Dimensional Vegetation Mark Visualisation Using Archived Aerial Images"],"prefix":"10.3390","volume":"8","author":[{"ORCID":"https:\/\/orcid.org\/0000-0003-4825-9604","authenticated-orcid":false,"given":"Geert","family":"Verhoeven","sequence":"first","affiliation":[{"name":"LBI for Archaeological Prospection & Virtual Archaeology (LBI ArchPro), Franz-Klein-Gasse 1, A-1190 Wien, Austria"},{"name":"Department of Archaeology, Faculty of Arts and Philosophy, Ghent University (UGent), Sint-Pietersnieuwstraat 35, B-9000 Gent, Belgium"}]},{"given":"Frank","family":"Vermeulen","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Department of Archaeology, Faculty of Arts and Philosophy, Ghent University (UGent), Sint-Pietersnieuwstraat 35, B-9000 Gent, Belgium"}]}],"member":"1968","published-online":{"date-parts":[[2016,9,12]]},"reference":[{"key":"ref_1","doi-asserted-by":"crossref","first-page":"155","DOI":"10.1016\/S0034-4257(70)80021-9","article-title":"Physical and physiological basis for the reflectance of visible and near-infrared radiation from vegetation","volume":"1","author":"Knipling","year":"1970","journal-title":"Remote Sens.
