The choice of substrate and application method can greatly affect the results obtained. The current study examines the different methods of applying pressure-sensitive paint to a surface. One polymer-based and two porous substrates (anodized aluminum and thin-layer chromatography plates) are investigated and compared for luminescent output, pressure sensitivity, temperature sensitivity and photodegradation. Two luminophores [tris-Bathophenanthroline Ruthenium(II) Perchlorate and Platinum-tetrakis (pentafluorophenyl) Porphyrin] will also be compared in all three of the substrates. The results show the applicability of the different substrates and luminophores to different testing environments.<\/jats:p>","DOI":"10.3390\/s111211649","type":"journal-article","created":{"date-parts":[[2011,12,14]],"date-time":"2011-12-14T11:39:05Z","timestamp":1323862745000},"page":"11649-11663","update-policy":"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.3390\/mdpi_crossmark_policy","source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":51,"title":["Pressure-Sensitive Paint: Effect of Substrate"],"prefix":"10.3390","volume":"11","author":[{"given":"Mark Kenneth","family":"Quinn","sequence":"first","affiliation":[{"name":"Aero-Physics Laboratory, George Begg Building, University of Manchester, Sackville Street, Manchester, M13 9PL, UK"}],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]},{"given":"Leichao","family":"Yang","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Aero-Physics Laboratory, George Begg Building, University of Manchester, Sackville Street, Manchester, M13 9PL, UK"}],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]},{"given":"Konstantinos","family":"Kontis","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Aero-Physics Laboratory, George Begg Building, University of Manchester, Sackville Street, Manchester, M13 9PL, UK"}],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]}],"member":"1968","published-online":{"date-parts":[[2011,12,14]]},"reference":[{"key":"ref_1","doi-asserted-by":"crossref","first-page":"475","DOI":"10.1007\/s00348-005-1010-8","article-title":"Application of pressure-sensitive paint for determination of the pressure field and calculation of the forces and moments of models in a wind tunnel","volume":"39","author":"Klein","year":"2005","journal-title":"Exp.
