A gas sensor was then manufactured using a ZnO sol-gel phase as a permanent binder of the glass\u2013ceramic to an alumina substrate having interdigitated electrodes. The film sensitivity towards humidity, NH3, H2 and NO2 was studied at different temperatures. X-ray diffraction technique (XRD), field emission- scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM) and differential thermal analysis (DTA) were used to characterize the prepared material. Though the response in the sub-ppm NO2 concentration range was not explored, the observed results are comparable with the latest found in the literature.<\/jats:p>","DOI":"10.3390\/s17112538","type":"journal-article","created":{"date-parts":[[2017,11,3]],"date-time":"2017-11-03T12:39:20Z","timestamp":1509712760000},"page":"2538","update-policy":"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.3390\/mdpi_crossmark_policy","source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":6,"title":["New ZnO-Based Glass Ceramic Sensor for H2 and NO2 Detection"],"prefix":"10.3390","volume":"17","author":[{"ORCID":"https:\/\/orcid.org\/0000-0002-4535-5089","authenticated-orcid":false,"given":"Mohamed","family":"Hassan","sequence":"first","affiliation":[{"name":"High Institute for Engineering & Technology, 21 K Cairo-Belbeis Rd, Al-Obour 11828, Egypt"}],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]},{"ORCID":"https:\/\/orcid.org\/0000-0002-4565-5129","authenticated-orcid":false,"given":"Ahmed S.","family":"Afify","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"INSTM R.U PoliTO-LINCE Laboratory, Department of Applied Science and Technology, Politecnico di Torino, Corso Duca degli Abruzzi, 24, 10129 Torino, Italy"}],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]},{"given":"Mohamed","family":"Ataalla","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Faculty of Engineering and Technology, Badr University in Cairo (BUC), Badr 11829, Egypt"}],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]},{"ORCID":"https:\/\/orcid.org\/0000-0002-6257-3600","authenticated-orcid":false,"given":"Daniel","family":"Milanese","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Department of Applied Science and Technology, Politecnico di Torino, 10129 Torino, Italy"}],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]},{"ORCID":"https:\/\/orcid.org\/0000-0003-2419-4383","authenticated-orcid":false,"given":"Jean-Marc","family":"Tulliani","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"INSTM R.U PoliTO-LINCE Laboratory, Department of Applied Science and Technology, Politecnico di Torino, Corso Duca degli Abruzzi, 24, 10129 Torino, Italy"}],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]}],"member":"1968","published-online":{"date-parts":[[2017,11,3]]},"reference":[{"key":"ref_1","doi-asserted-by":"crossref","first-page":"4237","DOI":"10.1023\/A:1026309910550","article-title":"Guest editorial: Chemical sensors for pollution monitoring and control","volume":"38","author":"Akbar","year":"2003","journal-title":"J.
