The magnetic dipole model and three growth models (Logistic model, Exponential model, and Linear model) were proposed to theoretically analyze the characteristic value of SMFL. Then, the experimental study on the corrosion detection by the magnetic sensor was carried out. The setup of the magnetic scanning device and signal collection method were also introduced. The results show that the Logistic Growth model is verified as the optimal model for calculating the magnetic field with good fitting effects. Combined with the experimental data analysis, the amplitudes of the calculated values (BxL(x,z) curves) agree with the measured values in general. This method provides significant application prospects for the evaluation of the corrosion and the residual bearing capacity of steel strand.<\/jats:p>","DOI":"10.3390\/s18051396","type":"journal-article","created":{"date-parts":[[2018,5,3]],"date-time":"2018-05-03T03:20:27Z","timestamp":1525317627000},"page":"1396","update-policy":"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.3390\/mdpi_crossmark_policy","source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":58,"title":["Quantitative Study on Corrosion of Steel Strands Based on Self-Magnetic Flux Leakage"],"prefix":"10.3390","volume":"18","author":[{"given":"Runchuan","family":"Xia","sequence":"first","affiliation":[{"name":"College of Civil Engineering, Chongqing Jiaotong University, Chongqing 400074, China"}],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]},{"given":"Jianting","family":"Zhou","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"College of Civil Engineering, Chongqing Jiaotong University, Chongqing 400074, China"}],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]},{"ORCID":"https:\/\/orcid.org\/0000-0002-1130-3600","authenticated-orcid":false,"given":"Hong","family":"Zhang","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"College of Civil Engineering, Chongqing Jiaotong University, Chongqing 400074, China"}],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]},{"given":"Leng","family":"Liao","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"School of Materials Science and Engineering, Chongqing Jiaotong University, Chongqing 400074, China"}],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]},{"given":"Ruiqiang","family":"Zhao","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"School of Materials Science and Engineering, Chongqing Jiaotong University, Chongqing 400074, China"}],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]},{"given":"Zeyu","family":"Zhang","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Guizhou Expressway Group Co., Ltd., Guiyang 550000, China"}],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]}],"member":"1968","published-online":{"date-parts":[[2018,5,2]]},"reference":[{"key":"ref_1","doi-asserted-by":"crossref","first-page":"1139","DOI":"10.1016\/j.conbuildmat.2017.07.147","article-title":"Combined NDT Techniques in Civil Engineering Applications: Laboratory and the Real Test","volume":"154","author":"Capozzoli","year":"2017","journal-title":"Constr.
