However, the usage of the UAVs introduces new constraints, such as unstable network communications and security pitfalls. In this work, the experience of implementing a system architecture for data and multimedia transmission using a multi-UAV system is presented. The system aims at creating an IoT ecosystem to bridge UAVs and other types of devices, such as smartphones and sensors, while coping with the fallback in an unstable communication environment. Furthermore, this work proposes a detailed description of a system architecture designed for remote drone fleet control. The proposed system provides an efficient, reliable and secure system for multi-UAV remote control that will offer the on-demand usage of available sensors, smartphones and unmanned vehicle infrastructure.<\/jats:p>","DOI":"10.3390\/s18113814","type":"journal-article","created":{"date-parts":[[2018,11,7]],"date-time":"2018-11-07T10:32:07Z","timestamp":1541586727000},"page":"3814","update-policy":"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.3390\/mdpi_crossmark_policy","source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":22,"title":["From the Eye of the Storm: An IoT Ecosystem Made of Sensors, Smartphones and UAVs"],"prefix":"10.3390","volume":"18","author":[{"ORCID":"https:\/\/orcid.org\/0000-0001-7931-5942","authenticated-orcid":false,"given":"Milan","family":"Erdelj","sequence":"first","affiliation":[{"name":"Cognitech DOO, Sombor 25000, Serbia"}],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]},{"given":"Borey","family":"Uk","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Syntony GNSS, Toulouse 31000, France"}],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]},{"given":"David","family":"Konam","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Thales SIX GTS, Gennevilliers 92230, France"}],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]},{"given":"Enrico","family":"Natalizio","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Universit\u00e9 de Lorraine, Centre national de la recherche scientifique (CNRS), Loria, Campus Scientifique, Nancy 54506, France"}],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]}],"member":"1968","published-online":{"date-parts":[[2018,11,7]]},"reference":[{"key":"ref_1","first-page":"632","article-title":"Flood prediction and disaster risk analysis using GIS based wireless sensor networks, a review","volume":"3","author":"Ahmad","year":"2013","journal-title":"J.
