However, according to the dispersive curve, it is hard to generate the pure SH1 mode since the non-dispersive SH0 mode will be excited simultaneously. Thus, this paper investigates a transducer design method to generate a pure SH1 guided-wave, where the dual periodic-permanent-magnet electromagnetic acoustic transducers (PPM EMATs) are placed on exactly opposite positions either side of the plate symmetrically. The suppression effect for SH0 and the enhancement effect for SH1 of the dual PPM EMATs are mainly discussed by theoretical analysis and simulation analysis, and the influence of positioning errors of PPM EMATs placed on opposite sides of the plate on its performances are analyzed. Employing the proposed dual PPM EMATs, some experiments are performed to verify the reliability of finite element simulation. The results indicate that the dual PPM EMATs can suppress the SH0 mode and generate the pure SH1 mode effectively. Moreover, the longitudinal and lateral positioning errors can affect the dual PPM EMATs performances significantly.<\/jats:p>","DOI":"10.3390\/s19133019","type":"journal-article","created":{"date-parts":[[2019,7,10]],"date-time":"2019-07-10T03:05:26Z","timestamp":1562727926000},"page":"3019","update-policy":"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.3390\/mdpi_crossmark_policy","source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":8,"title":["Pure SH1 Guided-Wave Generation Method with Dual Periodic-Permanent-Magnet Electromagnetic Acoustic Transducers for Plates Inspection"],"prefix":"10.3390","volume":"19","author":[{"given":"Gongzhe","family":"Qiu","sequence":"first","affiliation":[{"name":"Hubei Key Laboratory of Modern Manufacturing Quantity Engineering, School of Mechanical Engineering, Hubei University of Technology, Wuhan 430068, China"}]},{"ORCID":"https:\/\/orcid.org\/0000-0002-8339-4441","authenticated-orcid":false,"given":"Xiaochun","family":"Song","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Hubei Key Laboratory of Modern Manufacturing Quantity Engineering, School of Mechanical Engineering, Hubei University of Technology, Wuhan 430068, China"}]},{"given":"Xu","family":"Zhang","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Hubei Key Laboratory of Modern Manufacturing Quantity Engineering, School of Mechanical Engineering, Hubei University of Technology, Wuhan 430068, China"}]},{"given":"Jun","family":"Tu","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Hubei Key Laboratory of Modern Manufacturing Quantity Engineering, School of Mechanical Engineering, Hubei University of Technology, Wuhan 430068, China"}]},{"given":"Tao","family":"Chen","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Hubei Key Laboratory of Modern Manufacturing Quantity Engineering, School of Mechanical Engineering, Hubei University of Technology, Wuhan 430068, China"}]}],"member":"1968","published-online":{"date-parts":[[2019,7,9]]},"reference":[{"key":"ref_1","doi-asserted-by":"crossref","first-page":"1687","DOI":"10.1063\/1.4865026","article-title":"High accuracy wall thickness loss monitoring","volume":"1581","author":"Gajdacsi","year":"2014","journal-title":"AIP Conf.
