The vehicle state prediction on decelerating driving conditions can be applied to automatic regenerative braking in electric vehicles. However, drivers can feel a sense of heterogeneity when regenerative control is performed based on prediction results from a general prediction model. As a result, a deceleration prediction model which represents individual driving characteristics is required to ensure a more comfortable experience with an automatic regenerative braking control. Thus, in this paper, we proposed a deceleration prediction model based on the parametric mathematical equation and explicit model parameters. The model is designed specifically for deceleration prediction by using the parametric equation that describes deceleration characteristics. Furthermore, the explicit model parameters are updated according to individual driver characteristics using the driver\u2019s braking data during real driving situations. The proposed algorithm was integrated and validated on a real-time embedded system, and then, it was applied to the model-based regenerative control algorithm as a case study.<\/jats:p>","DOI":"10.3390\/s19194171","type":"journal-article","created":{"date-parts":[[2019,9,27]],"date-time":"2019-09-27T03:03:15Z","timestamp":1569553395000},"page":"4171","update-policy":"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.3390\/mdpi_crossmark_policy","source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":15,"title":["Vehicle Deceleration Prediction Model to Reflect Individual Driver Characteristics by Online Parameter Learning for Autonomous Regenerative Braking of Electric Vehicles"],"prefix":"10.3390","volume":"19","author":[{"ORCID":"https:\/\/orcid.org\/0000-0003-4275-476X","authenticated-orcid":false,"given":"Kyunghan","family":"Min","sequence":"first","affiliation":[{"name":"Department of Automotive Engineering, Hanyang University, Seoul 04763, Korea"}],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]},{"ORCID":"https:\/\/orcid.org\/0000-0002-9975-7745","authenticated-orcid":false,"given":"Gyubin","family":"Sim","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Department of Electronics and Controls, Hanyang University, Seoul 04763, Korea"}],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]},{"ORCID":"https:\/\/orcid.org\/0000-0001-6190-444X","authenticated-orcid":false,"given":"Seongju","family":"Ahn","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Department of Automotive Engineering, Hanyang University, Seoul 04763, Korea"}],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]},{"given":"Myoungho","family":"Sunwoo","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Department of Automotive Engineering, Hanyang University, Seoul 04763, Korea"}],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]},{"ORCID":"https:\/\/orcid.org\/0000-0003-0543-2198","authenticated-orcid":false,"given":"Kichun","family":"Jo","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Department of Smart Vehicle Engineering, Konkuk University, Seoul 05030, Korea"}],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]}],"member":"1968","published-online":{"date-parts":[[2019,9,26]]},"reference":[{"key":"ref_1","doi-asserted-by":"crossref","unstructured":"Cheung, E., Bera, A., and Manocha, D.
